Thanks for the review and info KFC. I should have got it when it was on sale on Amazon. It is $792.99 now. I do not need it until the end of August so I will have to check Amazon everyday. Just to make sure, it's the 75531i 3100 rv ready model ? I was originally all for the 2 Honda 2000 models run in parallel, but I can't see spending the extra $ for something that we will probably use 2 - 3 times a year. Thanks again for the info, boomer.

That's the same argument my friend uses to buy cheaper generators, including champions. Over the last 11 years he has had at least 5 different generators, while I still have my original Honda EU2000s. Maybe you will get lucky.....

Oh, and the Hondas can use an external nurse tank directly. The Champion will either have to be modified or use gravity feed to use an external tank.

I don't know why everyone wants to bash on the champions. Mine are three years old and still start on the first pull. Only maintenance I do is change the oil in spring and run them dry before the winter.

i paid 900 for both of my 2000i's and the parallel kit using a combination of sale prices and a cabelas coupon. If my Champions last half as long, i still feel that I came out ahead.

just because someone doesn't feel the need to buy the more expensive item, doesn't mean it isn't just as good.

everyone in here have Berksire's or Charlestons? nope, neither do, they are nice, but I can do what I need to do in my Sandpiper. Its the same argument, Honda/ Yahama vs Champion

Bringing a post back from the dead, didn’t want to make the millionth Generator post and this out of the many I read seemed to fit the closest because of all the champion talk.

My situation is a little different than I have read so it leaves me with the famous “what size generator do I need”

We have a late model 2018 Grey Wolf 29TE with outdoor kitchen, it has the larger fridge freezer combo outside and the standard fridge inside with the standard 13.5k A/C

I would like to run everything as I was hooked up to 30 amp but my problem is that the outside fridge is only 120 volt, the inside fridge is a non selectable fridge, once it senses electricity it automatically switches, if no power it runs on propane so I can’t manually make it run on propane to save on the generator

Last summer I borrowed a Honda 3000 and it almost would run everything but would kick out, I also borrowed two Honda 2000’s on a different weekend and they would obviously run everything

I was originally thinking of getting the champion 3100 but think I need to go bigger so I started looking at the 3400’s but for a little more I can get a 3500
I’m really wanting to stay with one generator but would do two if really needed, I can get the pair of 2000 champions with the parallel cable for $1000

I would suggest that you contact Champion Power Equipment. Some models of generators that they sell with different watt ratings are exactly the same inside, just a certain store wants a different rating. Not 100% sure but I think that the 3400/3500 watt inverter generators are the same on the inside. Champion can tell you the difference if any between the 3400 and 3500 units. Their customer service is truly second to none. Jay

Look over your fridge closly. All the ones I have seen have a Gas over ride to bypass the electric if you wish.

The Champion 3400w and the 3500w inverters the same generator just branded differently. This has been verified by Champion and is on their FAQ part of their web site.

A quick fix to make the refrigerator run on propane is to find the electrical plug and unplug it but as mentioned, most have a way to select propane only.

Generator

I sold both Generac and Champion before retiring. Both are fine, I saw less Generacs come back. Generac normally has a larger displacement engine. I prefer 1 generator to keep maintenance simple. Generac has 2 new investor generator that came out recently. Both run 3k w/ surge to 3500. I have heard the semi-open frame , 78 lb. run and plan to put my decibel meter on it, but it close to the 60 DB limit. We can carry on a conversation 15' away w/o talking load. We used it @ the deer last year, impressed. The other is below 60 DB., 100 lb. But they advertise quieter than Honda, this because they put a 3 rd.power setting, lower than ECO, not a fair comparison. I wish they would put a larger than 3 gal. fuel tank on them.

Unless Champion comes out with dual fuel AND remote start before the summer, this is what I will be purchasing:

Westinghouse iGen4500DF
www.amzn.com/B078V6V965

Looks like Home Depot has best price right now

The camper has a Norcold fridge, there is only a power on button, no other buttons, one light also that will change color depending on power source, very dumb to not be able to select

I guess I never thought of just unplugging it in the outside vent door, it’s not ideal but I’ll only be using the generator 3 times a year, every other trip I will be full hookup

I pretty stuck on champion mainly because I can get them at a few local stores and I really like the 30 amp rv plug

I believe if you hold down the button for 60 seconds and it will switch to gas.

We are generator brothers! Just got mine after a great deal. These are super quiet (52dB), which was a must for me. I know this is a Champion fanboi forum, but their choices were too loud and expensive for my taste.

Don, I didn’t get the Dual Fuel. I wasn’t really set on it. Typically, it’s just $100 difference between the two, and if there had been a great deal I would have considered it, but I haven’t seen deals on the Dual Fuel (yet).

I ended up getting this one for $614 which was less than all other models I considered, except the Firman 3200 at Costco. That one is 539, but it is only 3200 watts, much, much louder, and has no remote start.

My main selling points were 1) power (to run everything), 2) quiet and 3) low price/great value
