Gray Tank Leak

Hey guys, I have a small leak coming from the gray tank where it meets the ABS pipe that drain the tanks and has a adjustable clamp. I need to re-seal the pipe there and it seems to be white in color. Does any one knows what type or brand of sealant is needed for this repair?

Picture? I would think if it has a hose clamp that sealant would not be necessary? I would just want to make sure it was safe with drinking water once dried? Silicone?

Sorry I thought I read fresh water tank and was thinking the drain line for that. Ive never been under a unit to see how that hard plastic for the grey/black tanks actually attaches to the tank.

That is the same leak mine had. That is a screw up from factory. I just bought a 3 1/2" (I think) rubber coupler hose and clamped one end to the tank and the other to the fitting. I removed the whole fitting assembly at the gate valve and fitted it up to the tank. Sorry, I don't have any pics right now. Mine is still under warranty but didn't want to mess with the dealership to fix it. They kept it forever last time and it took them 4 times/trips and still couldn't fix it.

Just to be clear you connected the rubber coupler to the outside of the tanks connection? How’s it holding up?

Hate to be a bother but any thoughts and/or suggestions on this matter? Have a week long trip starting this weekend and would like to get it fixed. Dealer is not an option because of delay and simple repair. Thanks in advance

I believe that is what he is saying.

I take it as remove that whole section from the tank forward (to the valve).

The pipe and tank outlet appear to be the same diameter. I would cut the plastic coupler out (that is on there now) and get a rubber coupler, attach one end to the tank outlet and the other straight to the pipe.

You can measure to make sure they are the same diameter. If so you wont have a problem. If they are different look for a coupler that has different sizes on opposite ends to meet your needs.

Seems like a simple fix and should hold up, maybe get it addressed further from the dealer after your trip.

Sorry about the delay! Yes, outside to outside. It is under no pressure and is the same setup used in some home plumbing drain/septic lines. It has been a year and absolutely no leaks. It was a terrible glue job from the factory.

Contacted FR service department and it turns out that they use butyl tape in the joints.

Interesting. Mine was definitely glued. I have a video on Google photos of it leaking but can't get it to load.

Im no plumber, but since its not under any real pressure, it would seem a very simply fix.

I would think you can remove the hose clamp, put the pipe out a bit (If its not actually glued), add a nice layer of outdoor pipe sealant and crank that hose clamp down again.
