Grey Wolf 21RB Slide Contacting Matteress

Hello, we recently purchased a new 21' with the single dinette slide. We found that when the slide is activated it contacts the foot of the mattress (without bedding). Enough so that it actually bound that side of the slide once. It seems now the only way to move the slide is to have another person hold the mattress up out of the way. My question is: Is this normal or is the bed to long ? The trailer was sold with a deluxe mattress, possibly the slide conflict was not considered when the factory decided to upgrade it?

Hi, We purchased a new 21RB back in October and it had a short queen mattress (75 inches long) in it from the factory. There was plenty of clearance for the slide but the mattress was so terrible, we did not even sleep on it once. I replaced it before our maiden, week long trip, with a standard, pillow top queen (80 inches long) and yes, it pretty much touches the slide. I just make sure to pull up the bedding and push the mattress forward prior to moving the slide in or out. Most times, I have my wife activate the slide while I monitor the slide/mattress to make sure it does not bind. No issues so far!

Thanks for replying, Ours must be a different floor plan, the mattress measures 73" long by 58" wide. There is no room to spare at the slide, monitoring is pretty much mandatory the way it sits now.

I'm think of adding a 2-3" foam pad under it which would help move the mattress into the apex of the front curve. -)

That is so strange! Ours is a 2016, 21RB. Your slide must be further forward than ours.

Just remembered ours is a "Limited" model, that may explain the difference. The Counter extends almost to the door, possibly the dinette slide its larger also.

Ours is a Limited as well, purchased from Blue Dog RV in Redmond, OR.
Built 6/24/2015 at I believe the Harrisburg, Oregon plant. Very strange there is such a difference. Ours, with the 80 inch mattress, has about the same amount of clearance as your photo! Dinette and counter looks identical to ours.

Looks like we'll be limited to the smaller mattress. I have wondered how cold the unconditioned box frame will be a times. Hopefully the foam pad helps with that along with additional comfort.
