Grey wolf vent hose fix

So like everyone else with a grey wolf. I was missing the vent hose for the overflow on the fresh water tank. I purchased 6' of 1/2" potable water hose from RV parts dept and 2 hose clamps. In the 28bhg the water pump is located under the bathroom sink. Not sure about other models. But under there is access to the back side of water fill plate. And like others it was filled in with silicone. After some inspection I determined I could follow the main fill hose down to the tank thru the spray foam used to seal the hole. The hose comes out thru the floor just under the edge of the grey tank. Easy enough to reach up and over to feel where the lines come out. Fed the hose above frame rail to the tank and done. Took about 20 min to complete.

Where is the outlet on the actual tank that you are hooking it to? Guess I could just go outside and look for myself...lol. I pulled my panel off from under my sink and im missing it too. Project for tomorrow! I like to make my projects last for hours (at least the trip to home depot) since my wife and I BOTH work from home...lol

That looks exactly like my setup

Just don't forget to get potable water hose. Not just any old plastic hose. Just follow the big hose down to your fresh tank. At the top edge of the tank you'll see a black elbow fitting. That's where you want to put the vent hose. Sorry didn't get a pic of that. I'll try to get a pic today or tomorrow and post it up.

My pump and panel are like yours under the bathroom sink. I didn't have easy access above the gray water tank to get the vent hose down to the tank so I followed the water lines to the kitchen sink and went through where the gas lines come up. Turned back to the rear of the trailer and hooked right on the elbow. Clamped, sealed, tie wrapped and There, I fixed it. Also added an accumulator tank to the water system and it really makes a difference. No more burp, burp, burp on slow water running. Nice.

How would I know if I don't have this vent hose? Besides looking, I don't know what I'm looking for. Mine is a 27bhks.

Im guessing yours is going to be under the bunkbed in the back (based off your floor plan). It attaches to the back of the screened hole on your city/fresh water hookups (see below) and runs to the fresh water tank.

What putting this hose on will do for you:

1. Eliminate spilling freshwater while driving
2. Eliminate spilling freshwater while trying to level the TT

I dont ever travel with full tanks, but some campgrounds only have electric and you can fill up freshwater when you pull into the grounds. Thats great but if you have to go down a steep hill to get to your spot you will lose half your water before you get there and get level.

Finished mine today...Great thread WhiskyJack! Here are some pics...

You can see the silicone good ol' Forest River just plugs the hole with (picks out easily)..

Also I had to take out some of the insulation in the hole in the floor..gotta get some tomorrow to spray in to plug it back up

Here's from the bottom... If you line the hose up correctly from the top it wont slip between the floor and the liner on the bottom of the camper..may take a few tries but works out good...

Thanks for putting up the pics of the underside. Haven't had a chance to even look at the trailer this past week.

BlakeB,
Looking at your pictures it appears you have plenty of room to mount an accumulator tank at your pump. They really make a difference on pump cycling. In your second picture where the pump line goes into the blue cold water line would be a perfect spot for the tank. They are really easy to install. Mine, being a little smaller didn't have quite as much room and to shift some hoses around but it fit. I still don't understand their though process behind no vent hose. Just doesn't make good sense, except in their case probably cents.

Blakeb - Good job on the vent hose route fix.
That last photo shows the one line putting a strain on the bottom tank sensor wire, not a good thing. You might want to reroute that line so it doesn't break the wire or make it come loose from the tank sensor.

I noticed that when I was under there installing the new hose and it's actually got more play in it than appears in the picture. I will definitely keep an eye on it and may reroute it eventually.
