Our new trailer comes with the solar prep and wiring package. I don't have access to the trailer right now due to this ridiculously long winter. does anyone have this and can tell me what exactly it comes with?

The trailer we ordered has this package as well so I"m curious to see what it includes. The only thing I saw at the RV show was the little plug towards the front that I think is for plugging in solar panels. I'm wondering if it will also be a convenient place to tap into 12v for something like additional LED lights.

I checked the zamp website and it looks to me like its just a plug wired to the battery. you can either buy a portable kit or an rv ready kit. really depends how much solar you want run or where you want to mount the panels. the single sidewall port i think is more for the portable systems.

we arent off the grid people so i was looking at the portable system just to charge the battery when it is sitting in my driveway. not sure how much the trailer pulls when hooked to 120 to just keep the battery up so i'm not sure what system to buy or if its even worth it with the cost of the portable systems.

We don't camp off of the grid either so that sounds like a 12v source for me if I want to add some additional LEDs outside. If everything else in the camper is off, I don't think you'd gain anything using an additional charger vs. just plugging in the shore power cord. The camper has a built in charger to keep the battery charged up. You'd probably never notice the difference in draw.
