Leave Water heater on?

Heading to the lake tomorrow for the first time in our Grey Wolf 26BH. It has a gas only, manual light, water heater. Is it OK to leave the water heater pilot on all the time? Or best to keep turned off as much as possible?

The pilot uses very little gas. For me, it is easier to leave it lit.

Cool

Might be well advised to check laws for traveling with propane tanks open while traveling in your area? There are some places where it is against the law and subject to fines.

Oh no. I wouldn't travel with it on. I'm just wondering if it's OK to leave on for the two days while at the lake. Or should we turn off at night, and any other time where we would go a while without needing hot water.

I am sure it is fine to leave it on while at your campsite I always do, mine has electric but have never used it as propane works well and is fast recovery.

Leave it on. You never know when you will need hot water.

Leave it on. We never shut off the water heater when we are set up at a site.

If we go off for a period of time---------

I always turn my hot water tank off if we go off for a period of time. Why leave it on and waste gas while you are gone.

It won't hurt to leave it on and since you have a manual light pilot light, it makes life easier to leave it on.
