looking at a Cherokee 28L

Just joined this forum. We currently have a Starcraft HTT and are looking at TTs. The 28L seems to fit the size and weight we'd like, and we love the rear LR floorplan. Does anyone here have one?

Some questions:

re: the skylights over sofa & dinette - are they clear or opaque? Any problems with leaks?

The Forest River website lists heated tanks as an option for 2008, but the paper brochure doesn't. Anyone have the heated tanks on an 08 Cherokee Lite?

Any issues with not being able to access the bathroom or bedroom areas with the slide in?

Does anyone know if the trailer weighs more with the gelcoat siding than the standard siding? Any downsides to the gelcoat siding besides the price? ($3000 more for the option!)

Dealer said if we order a 28L now (April 08) that we would get a 2009 model. Anyone know of any changes between 08 and 09 models?

I'm sure I'll think of more questions as time goes on. We'd love to be able to actually see a 28L but local Cherokee dealers don't have any (and no plans to order any). We've seen a 30L at our local dealer, liked it, but it's too big for our needs. I assume a 28L would be similar in fit & finish - correct? We do want to work with our local dealer; we've been pleased with their service (and deals) in the past & want to help him stay in business.

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum.

On my cherokee the skylights are clear. But we had the Dealership install the white little awnings that protect the slideouts so the effect is that they are opaque. They still let a lot of light in but its filtered.

hope this helps.

Thanks, Steve - that helps a lot! We had thought we might want slideout toppers (our current TT has them) but not if it blocked light from the skylights. Good to know you still get lights in.

Yes light was our concern also but more of my concern was I didn't want to have to get up there and sweep off the top of the slide out when putting the slide in!
