Might have a problem with the slide

I just took delivery on a 2016 274DBH. I love this trailer. Nice upgrade from the Gulf Breeze. Have not been camping in it yet but we are going out for manorial day. One and hopefully only one problem I have found is when I sit the switch for the slide and it get fully extended or fully retracted it starts to grind. Are the motors out of adjustment???

Any help would be great. I don't want to take it back just yet in fear that they will have it over manorial day weekend.

Are you saying that at the end of extension or retraction you hear it grind or before it extends or retracts?

If it is then that is normal. When you hear the clicking, let go of the switch.

OK so that is normal. I am new to this brand of camper and was reading that you should hold the button in for a period of three seconds so it doesn't lose its alignment.

If it loses alignment it probably won't extend or retract fully.

There are several types/brands of slide out mechanisms used in slides.

Some make a ratcheting noise on extension and retraction and once in either of those positions you need to let off the switch after 2-3 clicks.

Others, (like Schwintek brand) it is advised you hold the button longer on extension/retraction to keep the motors in sync.

I would suggest you find out what kind/brand slide you have before you make any conclusions as to how long to hold the switch.

I can't comment on the type of side out you have, but I know on our Rockwood Signature TT, I messed up the slide motor by not letting it click. I would extend it until the seals touched the wall then let go of the switch. One day it would not open. Seems the clicking actually resets the switch or motor. So now I always let it click about 3 seconds but not much more. No problems so far.
Enjoy your new TT! :-)

What kind of day are you referring too?

Please say you are not trying to say MEMORIAL DAY.

Sorry, not trying to but I'm a little partial.

We were actually told to listen for the 'grind' to know that it's extended all the way. Stop when you hear the grind though.
