Mini Kitchen Mod

Has anyone modified their Cherokee / Grey Wolf mini kitchen? I was looking to replace the two burners with either a slim gas grill or gas griddle. Would love to know if anyone else has thought about this.

I'm thinking about it now! Gas griddle would suit our style wonderfully! An easier option would be to get a cast iron griddle that will cover both burners. That way you'd have the option of griddle or burners. I pick mine trailer with the mini kitchen on Saturday! The griddle might even be able to ride on the burners while traveling. We'll find out.
If you do change out the burners, post some pictures! I'm interested.

Hi backwoods,

Congrats on your new camper, I hope you are enjoying it. So I want to share my thoughts hoping that someone can improve in them. I first bought a grill stainless steel griddle from Walmart to set on top of them. Something similar to a Little Griddle. Found it too big, so then I tried a cast iron griddle plate for 2 burners. The burners are offset which made fitting awkward and then the plate was touch the burner knobs making them unusable (while also creating a fire hazard and possible melting the knobs.).

Then, I found a super sale price Coleman grill cam stove at Kmart that I measured and thought it would fit. I have read on other forums that there are griddles that fit perfectly in the stove which would give me either a griddle or grill option. This was a close fit. I will post some pics. The sink was in the way and the hole was a tab bit to short, so I aborted the idea before I got too far into it. Still thinking about just covering that little plastic sink with an cutting board or prep counter. But I still have to see if I can modify the grill to accept low pressure flow from the RV!

So I was ready to abandon the whole thing until I went camping this weekend. Dam pan sliding all over while I was trying to cook bacon outside on it. I am lucky I didn't get a pan full of bacon grease on me.

At this point I think I may try again or maybe just turn the whole thing into a prep table and by a regular portable grill. I am curious if anyone is using those burners. I will post some pictures of my next try.

Thanks for the picture War Eagle. That is second on my list of things to do. Our stove has a glass top cover which is ok to set some uses on but not chop or prep food on. Could seriously use more counter space!

Anyone interested in making a nice stove top cover on the cheap, check with your local counter top retailer. The cut-outs for sink and stove top are many times discarded and you can get them for free. Heavy duty base and nice Formica or other surface.
