1st time out this year and my electric jack started acting up, working intermittently and then just quit working altogether. I used the manual jack for our trip and starting troubleshooting when I got home last night. I have power running up to the motor. There is a little sealed box that jumpers the incoming to outgoing wire. I have no power from the outgoing wire. So I believe that is the problem. The other issue is that the sticker on the front of the lift is completely sun faded so I can even research what make/model it is.
It has 1 switch for up/down at the bottom and a red switch for the side lights behind. Neither of the side lights work as well which makes sense if no power is getting past the jumper/relay/solenoid/whatever that is???
Yep! That would be your issue. Mine did the same. Removed the breaker and opened it up to find the contacts to be rusted. Bought one at me local auto parts store for less than $10. Simple fix!
It is a cheap resettable breaker. Made with bi-metallic contacts . When too much current flows thru the contacts they heat up and they’ll open and break the circuit therefore no more current flow. Once the contacts cool down they’ll close and allow current flow. The sealant/paint used was to seal the breaker but the manufacturer of the jack failed miserably! One the side of the breaker should be the rating for volts and amps. I used a 12vdc/20amps on mine.
On a related note, do those gears need to be lubed periodically? Mine is working fine, but it sounds like it's straining sometimes (or is that just the nature of the beast?).
I did check the gears when I pulled it all apart and did not see any water penetration. I am going to grease them since I have it apart. Simple to do. Mine was only 4 screws to remove and inspect.

you can try using some type of silicone self fusing tape. Rescue tape is a brand name. works great, just cut it to remove. apply like electrical tape. completely water tight, gas proof, great stuff to keep in the tool box anyway.
