New Cherokee Lite 28A+ Owner
Howdy,
I am the proud owner of a new Cherokee Lite 28A+. We took it out this past weekend for the 1st time and had a blast. If there are any other 28A+ owners on the forum, I am interested in what you use to tow your rig and what your gas mileage is.
I currently have a 2002 F150 SuperCrew (4x2) with the 5.4 and the 3.55 rear axle. Tows pretty well until I hit a hill. I am looking to upgrade to either an '08 F150 Supercrew (5.4 with the 3.73 rear axle) or an '08 Nissan Titan crew cab. Any thoughts or input would be be appreciated.

My vote is for the 100% American Made truck.
Get the Nissan.

I'd wait for ford or nisson to put a diesel in either, then take a look.

We used to own a 28A now a 32B. we love the layout and was perfect for the kids and us. I thought about the 28A+ but you can`t get the rear storage door because of the bunk slide! and we needed a place to put the kids bikes and other "junk" LOL!
They are great TT`s. and they give you alot of amenities.

Hey,
Its amazing there are so many lengths of the same thing. We have the 29A+. We just got it last month and only have had 1 night in it so far, but love it. And yes the kids love the room too. I am interested in a tow vehicle also. Right now its parked on some camping property.

I believ Nissan is working on a Diesel Heavy Duty truck now.

I am also a new owner of an 05 28A+. I have a 97 f150 with the 5.4l with 3.55 gears. On the highway it's fine, but I see what your talking about with the hills. If it was me I would get a set of 3.73's installed. $400-500. If you like your truck its the cheapest option. Now if your looking at buying a new truck..... Ford! Bad experience with Nissan when I had problems. A lot of passing the buck around. I know there are going to be others that say the same about Ford, but go onto www.titantalk.com and read about the braking problems and rear end problems going on. Not to mention "my favorite" the bent frame from towing a toy hauler.
P.S. I hear Ford is coming out with a new f150 for 09. A set of gears could buy you some time until they come out.

I recently got new brakes on my TITAN. I don't think I had warped rotors...but with everyone screaming about it at TITANTALK...just mentioning it at the dealer got a whole new round of brakes for me.
I have the original 2004 model...and it's a great truck. I wouldn't trade it for any other.
PS...I traded my CHEVY TAHOE after the rear diff disintegrated...for no good reason. It was $1,000 to fix (3 weeks) out of warranty. I love Chevy Customer Service....NOT!

If you consider going with the gears you are better off going righr to a 4.10. going from a 3.55 to a 3.73 is not much of a noticeable jump. the 5.4 and all the other Triton motors love to rev. and the gas mileage debate is irrelevant. the differense is not more than 1 mpg.

So a 5.0 with a 3.31 may suffer on hills with the 28a+?
