Off to the RV body shop

Yep, the brand new January purchased Cherokee Freedom Express is on the way to the body shop next Tuesday. Someone ran/bumped into this unit on February 05 while I was a a car show/sweep meet causing a crack that is about 8" long. There was a motor home that came in and parked very close to me late Thursday evening and left before noon on Friday. There were spin/skid marks very close to me after we saw the damages on Friday afternoon but we have no idea who this person was. We believe that his mirror or maybe part of his left front hit the side of my unit as he was trying to get into position on that wet ground. Hmm, wonder why he left so early now. I finally got the insurance adjuster to allow me to take it back to the selling dealer who is 90 miles from me so they can give him an estimate for repair. And NO, there is no one closer who can repair this fiberglass wall. Actually, this is one of the newer units with the "Azdel" composite wall. This unit has the aluminum square welded tubing frame with the Azdel/fiberglass outer skin. We don't think the aluminum frame was compromised. Anyway--cancelling two trips we had planned as the body shop people tell me that it will be at least six to eight weeks for the repairs.

Thanks people, but let's look at the bright side: It could have been worse. The crack is only, maybe, eight inches long. It could have been crunched up really bad. My happiness is getting through all the insurance company's red tape (a.k.a. BS) allowing me to take it to the selling dealers repair/body shop for at least an estimate. The insurance company has NOT said that they will repair this---YET. They want an estimate for now. The adjuster even told me that there must have been something I could have done to prevent this and he is going to have to consider whether or not I was neglectful. He also stated three times that this was a collision and I had to correct him three times that this was a hit and run and I would not accept any other cause for damages. I have a friend who owns/operates an auto body shop who told me to watch out for that. I suppose he is trained to find the owner at fault in any manner possible. Progress updates as available.

For future reference, my tv got backed into at HD. My insurance company advised me to call the local police, who filed a incident report over the phone. They did not come out as the hit was on parking lot and perp was long gone. Got a reference number from police, gave it to my insurance. Made a big diff in my out of pocket.

Guessing that you were at Moultrie ------- Call them , can't remember the guys name that puts it on , they are great people to deal with , explain your situation and let them know that you would like to know who had the spot next to you , hopefully you were in assigned spaces , and the can look at the record and give you the info needed......I had a situation a couple of years ago and they helped me out

Sorry to hear about the misfortune, but you have a great attitude (and you are correct). Good luck!

It's sad that people who cannot own up to there mistakes, that have no guts to walk up and take responsibility for the damage they caused. I'm sorry for your damage and for the person who couldn't be man enough to say he wronged you.

@ "47chevy": The man who started the Moultrie car show thingy is Jerry Kelly, his son pretty much runs the show now. We noticed the damage on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning I contacted the man who works with the City of Moultrie that collects the monies for camping. They do not keep records of who rents which space. They just charge the $30 per night for camping and you select your space, no assigned spaces. If you've been there then you may know that they have over 500 spaces in the two camp sites. The Moultrie employee remembers this coach because it was somewhat unique in that it appeared to maybe have been an old Greyhound bus. But no one has a name to go with it. I took the unit up to Byron and I am #11 on the list. Hurry up and wait
