Our New Wolf Is Home !!!!

Hello All

Pulled the trigger and got our Gray Wolf 26RL !!!! The 4 hour tow home was horrible with rain and 2 traffic jams 0n I 95 which made our trip home 7 hrs. The unit towed great even though we no we are at near our tow limit. The rounded nose must work, because, we got better gas mileage than our old box shaped TT even though the 26RL is almost a 1000# heavier.

We were told a lot of incorrect things during our walk through, so i question when told that the rear cargo rack was not supposed to be used while towing, only while camped. I don't see that being true ???? Not much use if true. Fact or fiction ???

When we have our Wildwood X-lite we had the back pack. We used it all the time traveling, just watch the weight limitations.

Congrats, they are probably right, but if you take your spare off you can add the same weight without a problem, but put it on for service work. They would probably look the other way, but I wouldn't give them the chance. I was told that at the Rockwood factory in front of at least 40 people.

Don't use the rack while traveling? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! The factory racks I've seen- and I've looked at some Grey Wolf's- are mounted to the frame, not the bumper, negating the comment made about the spare. It should have a weight limit- I'm thinking most I've seen say 300lbs. or so.

I used the back rack on my grey wolf 26dbh a few time while towing. just a head's up it unloads the hitch weight big time.

We use ours to haul lots of different items, just keep in under the weight limit, that and don't forget to put the cotter keys back into the pins......

I'd like to chime in here although I do not own a Grey Wolf. This past weekend we went looking at new TT's. A couple of the Cherokee's had the rack mounted on the back of the unit and had the spare tire mounted on the rack. The sales person told us that the weight capacity of the rack was 200# which would include the spare tire. I had to ask him:"Then you are stating that this rack will only support maybe 120# or so"? Yep, he agreed. And another thing he stated: "It's not advisable to use this rack while traveling down the road, in other words don't put your ice cooler loaded with ice on the rack and travel down the road it will break it". So I had to ask: "Then what good is this d****d rack?" He just sort of shrugged and stated that is was something that a lot of campers had on them now. Hmmm, let's look at another unit then.

I removed the rack on our unit after the first camping trip. The rack itself must weight
100+ lbs! The rack would be great for bikes and small coolers. But not much else.....

You can use it while towing but will prob drag the spare tire over every dip in the road. With spare on it hangs pretty low. I have never used it. Too much play and bouncing around in the mounts IMO. Plus by the time you relocate the spare you have wasted all the room you saved. Would be good for bikes I guess. Will prob use it for that when kids get bigger

I have the wolf pup with the back rack. It has a weight limit sticker on the frame. I'll look at it and post it. I used mine to haul bikes. Worked like a champ!

Nice trailer, Btw!

No problems as of yet

We have th 2012 Cherokee 18RB with the back rack and use it for our bicycles. Have had no issues over the last 2 years. Think the weight sticker is something like 250 pounds carrying limit. Cannot check it right now, sitting between the garage and shed with snow everywhere.
