Placing generator on Wolfpup 18TO tongue

I am purchasing a Honda EU 3000 Handi. I was wondering if anyone has placed their generator on the tongue? All I have there now is propane tank and one battery. The generator weighs 78 lbs

What's the Wolf Pup's fictional dry tongue weight?
What's your tow vehicle's payload capacity?

6000lbs. is the towing capacity, NOT the payload capacity.
Two different numbers.

Payload capacity is more important than towing capacity because nearly every vehicle will run out of payload capacity WAY before running out of towing capacity.

I'm guessing that you'll run out of payload capacity, once you add the weights of driver/occupants, WDH, the Honda, battery, water and cargo.

That's a range, not your vehicle's actual payload capacity as equipped.

You need to read the driver's door sticker.
It'll say "Occupants and cargo should not exceed xxxxlbs."

I've seen these types of mounts before:

And camped next to a guy who had a custom enclosure built:

That said, Dan makes an excellent point. Fully loaded, you're likely looking at a tongue weight that is pushing 600 lbs.

Add in another 100+ lbs. for the generator and rack and you're looking at 700+ lbs. of tongue weight.

That's a lot of weight pushing down on the rear of the vehicle. 1) is the hitch designed for that much tongue weight? 2) do you have enough payload capacity available? 3) as well, this detracts from the camper's cargo carrying capacity- do you have enough for your stuff, your toy, and this in the trailer?

The OP is using a Pathfinder to tow with.
Therefore it'll probably have a low payload capacity, along with typical SUV soft suspension.
They'll definitely have tongue weight issues putting a 80lb generator on the tongue.

X2. That amount of tongue weight is going to tax that SUV. Not acting as the Weight Police here, just being realistic. If the TV was pickup it wouldn't be a problem.
