Pup lug nuts

Got new Good Years on today and while torqueing a couple of the chrome covers on nuts let go. The covers are splitting open. What do I do now? If I pull off chrome,
can I get a wrench or vise grip on to remove nuts? Had similar problem with f150 but let Ford fix it.

Your help is appreceated. Mike

sounds like you are not using a deep enough socket. Get a deep socket and see if you can remove them. make sure you use a six point the others may slip on a bad nut

Take a sample down to your local auto parts store and you can get them in solid chrome with no shell that can peel off.

It's not pretty but I have hammered a smaller socket either standard or metric onto the messed up lug nut.

This. Get a cheap socket from Harbor Freight and hammer it on.
