safes

Has anyone put a safe in their trailer? We have a 2011 Greywolf 26 RL and are trying to figure out where to install one. Have considered a few places but have not made any decisions yet.

Don't carry anything valuable enough to put in a safe in a trailer. I figure if I was clever enough to put one in, someone else is clever enough to take it out. If I were to put one in, I think I would put it in the floor either in a cabinet/closet and put a false top (cabinet/closet bottom) over it or inside the bed under the carpet.

Don't have one but the ones I'vs seen at RV shows/dealers have been under the main bed. IMHO too obvious. Maybe behind a bottom kitchen drawer but you'd have to shorten the drawer.

If the 26rl is similar to our old 28bh, I'd put it under bed on the Drivers side, adding a "trap" door to access the safe through the side of the bed frame.
Another possibility would be under the dinette if there's storage available there.

I had a friend many years ago that had a bit of a shady past that loved to see people buy the small fireproof safes. He said it was nice when people are kind enough to put everything worth taking in one place, and then put a lid on it so you will not spill it when you carry it,,,lol.

In all seriousness though I will be watching this closely as I just got a new work and play and have been thinking of the same thing. I almost bought a pistol safe the other day that would go under the seat of my truck, digital keypad lock, fireproof, unable to be seen from the windows. I think I may still do this as I can use it when I am not towing, and my truck has a security system on it and my trailer doesn't, so that may still be my best choice.

We usually don't take anything with us that we would miss if stolen. We have medical supplies for the DH and I have that need to be kept safe, along with medical records.

My double barrel hog leg won't fit in a safe.

I have a "less fancy" version of Sid's lock box under the bed. Passports, medical items, and trip cash go there.

Again; "honest people; honest" and all that.
