Besides the stability factor, I know the folding steps can sometimes have ground clearance issues, especially those trailers whose frames sit low (and the Grey Wolf qualifies, there).
A power step, especially if it folded up into the frame, would be something I might take an interest in - but it would have to have a manual failover - and stuff like that isn't something you'd find at the GW price point, IMO.)
(sorry if I hijacked the thread, but I am curious, since both the OP and I seem to much prefer the 'stable step')

Like someone stated everyone has their preference. These are the issues I see for ME for the more ride steps.
1. As another poster said it would bring a lot of dirt and water into the camper especially if you were packing up in the rain.
2. We boondock a lot and pull over in rest stops and go back into the trailer. With my current one if I need to (I’m not that old yet) get up into my 26rr without pulling out the steps. This is good if I’m in a trailer parking space and the space beside me is full I would not have room to swing the more ride steps out without possibly hitting the vehicle beside me. Then if no one is the space beside me and I put the down the moreride steps and some one swings into the space beside me they may not see the steps hanging out there and damage their and my vehicle.
3. Not every place you park is level and the same height or some may have a slope and some may not some the ground may go up. Right now with my fold out step I use what God gave me (legs) and adjust for the difference. I don’t want to spend time monkeying with the adjustment on the bottom of the Moreride steps just to get into my rig. Especially if I’m just going in to get drinks or snack on the road.
4. I feel the moreride steps give you less flexibility getting into your camper. Just MHO
