Slide problem

I have a 2005 Cherokee Lite 28'' RV with one slide.

When I try to bring my electric slide in, it sounds like something is skipping. I completely dismantled the gear box and all looks good. Someone told me there's some kind of protector or kick out for the motor, does anyone know anything about this? When I try to bring the slide in it sounds like it makes a revolution and then it skips. I really don't want to invest in a new motor if that's not the problem.

Thanks,

Mike.

When your slide is almost opened or closed you will hear this skipping noise and this is normal if you keep pushing on the button.this is the end of the slide travel. If yours is doing it while it is between the 2 extremes you have a problem!

That ratcheting noise is the nylon drive gears jumping the teeth on the slide rack when the drag on the rack exceeds the spring tension on the drive gear. This is "normal" when the slide is "full in" and "full out" though if you over do it it will prematurely wear out or break the nylon gears.

As capucine stated, if this is happening while in transit; you may have a serious problem. the gears may already be worn to the point where normal drag on the slide makes it skip teeth, the slide may be out of rig, or your gears may be missing teeth.
