Smooth woodwork on 274dbh

]When we purchase our 274dbh, I notice that all the woodwork inside had a rough ,unsanded feel to it. It was like they sprayed sealer on it with no lacquer. It would also leave white marks every where it was scuffed. To smooth it out and brighten the woodwork I rubbed all the wood down with 4 oooo steel wool, wiped dust off and put coat of Old English furniture polish on it. Now we have a nice smooth surface without all the scuff marks. Be sure to wipe lightly with steel wool or you'll take the color off.
It just took one or two swipes to get it smooth. Used Old English with protective shield formula.

What a great tip; thanks for the info! I think I'll try it first on a hidden area first to see how it looks and gauge my ability, ha ha! Happy camping!

Ours is the same way.My plan was to rub on a coat of Birch-Wood-Casey Tru Oil.It is a gunstock finish that is designed to be rubbed on by hand.It will flow out to a nice semi gloss finish.Ive used it on a lot of stocks over the last 50 yrs!The next step was to scuff it lightly with fine bronze wool, wipe it down with a tack rag and apply a top coat. The first coat will seal the stain and avoid the chances of sanding thru the stain. It also is VERY low odor and waterproof.
