Tires.........again

I got bit by my Castle Rocks. Date code 5016. Less than 7500 miles.
Heard slight pop crossing bridge didn’t think much about it. About 2 miles later more noise from behind. Looked in mirror and saw tire smoking. TPMS never alarmed. 66psi and 101 degrees. When I pulled over.

That sidewall sure looks like you dropped it into a pothole pretty hard. Both inside and outside have the same marks. I would not call that the tires fault.

Looks to me like it sat flat in the mud after failure.

66psi? Shouldn't it have been 80?

Take the castle rock tires out of use. This one was a spare, never on road... blew through cover. It’s not a debate when they only last two years and blow. Click image for larger version

That is the 2nd one I've read about that blew and never was in use.

Wondering what the black cover does to the tire pressure in the sun. Additional note, the compounds in tires
engineered to keep the tires pliable require the tires be rolling with a proper load on them. My rig is stored with the sun on the front. Follow this forum long enough and you'll hear almost everything can fail...

As a disclaimer.... I have NO loyalty to CR

There is something going on with that tire..... The sidewall markings are ending/starting exactly where the rupture/failure was.

From the pictures I see it was an impact related failure. The Inside pics of the tire would be interesting to see... I am betting on some "pinch" marks inside the tire.

Maybe WM or Tireman will be along to help
