TV Reception

I am in a wooded/remote location in Wisconsin and am not able to get any regular channel TV reception. I'm not sure HOW the Antenna works in my 39P Cherokee. I've read the manual, but it doesn't show how to operate the antenna and all there is on the wall is a button to push for booster or something like that (which has been pushed & the green light is on)? It's a brand new Digital TV - how do I get any kind of TV reception?? HELP! Thanks!

Depending how far you are from and cities with local stations you may not get any reception. We always keep a stock of movies in the camper, but generally don't watch those either to busy enjoying the great outdoors usually to the point of exhaustion.

When you say remote, how far away is the closet station? You may not be able to pick up a signal from any station.

Hate to ask this, but do you have the antenna up?

If it's like my 28bh, the antenna is stationary. We had a discussion a couple Weeks ago on here about that. I did find that behind my tv, the connections weren't exactly tight. Once I snugged them all up, I constantly get a few channels.
Another member found a cut in the cable next to the antenna on the roof, but he had to remove the antenna to find and fix it. Good luck

Is it a winegard antenna ?? I have just installed a "wingman" on mine ..its supposed to help bring in more uhf channels .. This weekend i will be testing it.. and.. can your antenna rotate..look at the base inside where the crank is located ..look for a arrow and pull down on that ring and turn at the same time to rotate ..remember the antenna MUST be up to do this..and line those arrows up when its time to bring the antenna down.. hope that helps

I use:

www.antennaweb.org to determine if there is a station in my range.

Range to broadcast tower with standard Sensar type antenna is 30 miles with VHF and 15 miles with UHF stations.

The Winegard "Wingman" boosts UHF signals by acting like a magnifying glass for UHF. This will give you nearly the same range as your VHF elements.

Look to see what direction other campers (if there are any) have their antenna pointed. Antenna up, booster on, scan for stations on the tv. Rotate the antenna for best signal strength. Rescan tv stations if necessary.

Where are you in WI? You should be getting something unless you're sitting in a valley or heavily wooded area.

With your antenna booster on, raise the antenna and then point the front of the antenna in the direction of where the signals from the TV station originate. Next, turn the TV on and then go to the menu and scan for available channels. Once the scan is done any available channels should be viewable.

However, there could be a variety of reasons you don’t get any TV stations. If your more than 50 miles from the nearest TV signal you might not get anything. If your down in valley with a large hill or ridge between you and the stations you might not get anything. If the area you are in is heavily wooded with very large trees you might not be able to receive a signal.

Where is the antenna booster on a 831fkbss. I am hooked up to the cable in a rv park and the channels are fuzzy, someone suggested turning off the booster. Any help would be appreciated.

Your booster is not really a booster. It is the power supply for the antenna on the roof. It is also a switch to switch between the roof antenna and the campground's cable if they have it.

Switching the power OFF will kill your roof antenna and CONNECT you to the park cable.

While at the FAMCAMP in Dayton, there were about 25 campers there. Only 4 had their antennas pointed in the correct direction. Most were pointed at Springfield (thinking that was where the stations were) but the TOWERS were southeast of Dayton.

Seems like whoever got there first stuck their antenna up and everyone else used your method. I was getting 23 stations and the other campers were getting the 4 strongest only.

Same camper, same situation in Wisconsin. I camp about 35 miles north of Madison and everyone around me can get most of the stations. I've had nothing but issues getting any of them to come in reliably until I bought an external digital antenna that I mounted up in a tree. Not the ideal situation but it works for now.
