Uncomfortable dinette

I have 2019 16fq that I have been thinking about removing the dinette seat near the door and replacing with a small swivel chair. If you spend much time sitting in the dinette you will find it not comfortable. At 71 years and a bad back it is difficult to get into the seat and the cushions are always moving around. Any suggestions or has anyone made a change in the seating? Friends tell me a change will destroy resale value, But I feel I can do this without destroying appeal of the camper. What are your thoughts?

Make it the way you want it - I became much happier with mine after I stopped worrying about reasons not to mod it and just “went for it”.

Not sure what dinette yours has. On ours, the back cushions were too thick - designed to serve as part of the “mattress” when converted to a bed. Sort of “squeezed” us to the table. Made sitting at the dinette quite uncomfortable.

I made new backs with a piece of plywood “upholstered” with some light weight carpeting. Velcroed in place. Then added some large lounging pillows to each side. The extra 5 or 6 inches between the new back and the table makes the dinette quite usable; the pillows allow “lounging” when not eating there. I actually store the old backs in the overcab area - on ours, they fit in the furthest forward (and least useful for other storage) section - in case I want to use the dinette “bed” (happened once in over 90K miles).
Works for us...

That's a great idea. There's just the two of us; no real need for the thick cushions that make it difficult to get in and out.
