I think I read that many of the brands of water filters are interchangeable. For certain, many people were writing about buying filters at Lowe's and at much cheaper prices that those you could buy from FR. One issue was that the cheaper you go, the larger the things that could pass through the filter. Try taking your old one to Lowe's and visually comparing it with what they have.

Or, you might try using these results from our own search engine for further assistance.

Most of these "whole house" type filters use a standard size cartridge.
You can probably get them at WalMart or Lowes or Home Depot or a
hardware store as well as your local RV store.

Angry Water Filter

Thanks for the info, like a dummy I must not have gotten all the moisture out and the cannister broke at the thickest point where it threads in. Thats why I was wondering if there were others that would work instead of the OEM WaterPUR CCI-10-CLW.

My BIL's froze and I just picked up one from HD and he screwed the cannister onto the OEM unit and it fit perfectly. I measured several of the units in HD and they all had the same threads and size and they all took the same size filter. I alway use an outside filter so I just took my element out.

1 800 540 1055 is the direct number to The Water Pur Company. You could call them and get a new canister. But get ready to pay...I just paid $35 for a replacement cartridge......I'll go to lowes or home depot next year that's for sure

Unhappy Trouble replacing water filter on Georgetown

Hi,
We purchased a new water filter from PUR. Phone 330-547-4423. We just tried to replace the water filter and now water leaks out of the canister when we turn the public water back on. We can't figure out why. We even tried putting the old filter back in the canister, same problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? We are new full-timers. We have the correct filter.
Thank you,
Sue & Len

I haven't had this problem. I buy new filters on eBay...they are much cheaper and you can get any micron you want.

My husband bought the CCI-10-C replacement filter at this site http://www.waterfilters.net/WaterPur...p_0-29342.html . It came very quick and works just like the original CCI-10-C. We actually bought a couple more to stock up so we wouldn't be caught on the road without them. We haven't had to replace any of the parts yet in the system so I can't give any comments on the parts.

We just bought a used 2006 Rockwood Trailer and the water filter canister is missing. It's my understanding that Forest River uses Water-Pur systems. Can you buy a generic canister only that would fit rather than buying from Water-Pur?
Thanks for any response.

Yes you can get pretty much the same housing but generic from home depot or lowes for a lot cheaper.

Nope, haven`t found any. my housing did break one year I had to get a replacement from the RV dealer by my house, I think it was like $30!!! the other thing is, for me anyway, I tried using a filter cartridge from home depot and it was very restrictive. my water pressure was terrible with it. so it`s either spend $30-40 on an RV specific one or get an external filter that screws into the hose for $15.....$10 on sale.

To make things worse they charge $11.50 just to ship. What a rip!

Streglessa, lube the o-ring with food grade silicon before reinstalling, if it still leaks, then as jutojohn says, replace the o-ring.
