Water in axles

2019 Arctic Wolf 245rk4 fifth wheel. After pulling I always noticed rust over the back levelers. I would wash it off and it would come back. Used the air hose and blew out as much water as possible utilizing the holes for the brake wires. The reason I came up with was being stored with the holes up or water spray off the road and tires following the brake wires into the axle. Has anyone else notice the same issue that I am having? My solution was to bend the wire down and place a wire tie on it so water would not run into hole. That is what I did and we will see.

I would drill a drain hole in the axle from the bottom. You likely still have water in it. You can seal it up after it drains.

Why they do this is beyond me. Hopefully, the holes where they run the wires at least face backwards.

Thanks for the photos... and I know this is totally off your topic... but what kind of frame rail is that?

Is it a box frame? And I wonder why didn't they build it to the correct width, only to put flimsy angle iron extensions onto the frame so they could bubble gum weld the spring hangers onto them at a more outboard position?

It seems like they had a bunch of suspensions/axles that weren't spec'ed at the proper width so they just made some modifications to use them.

I will certainly be looking at the frames a lot closer on new units.
