Water running out of FW tank of a new Cherokee 274vfk

Greetings,

I just filled my fresh water tank in our new Cherokee 274vfk for the first time. The tank was almost full when water stared running out from underneath of the travel trailer. It is coming from a small black plastic 90-degree fitting that is sticking out from the side of the FW tank near the top. There is no line present that would have connected to this fitting.

Is this a vent for the FW tank?

Thanks.

It is the overflow and probably serves as the vent. Most have a hose extending down below the bottom of the tank unless you don't have an enclosed underbelly.

Near the top or almost at the top. If real close to the top it's possible it's the tank vent. There is usually a line running from the vent to a small fitting on the tank fill port if it's gravity fill (stick hose in fill pipe on side of trailer). Line may have come loose or was overlooked at the factory.

If not a vent your guess is as good as mine.

If it’s the overflow your check valve in your pump is sticking. Disconnect water hose and run the water on the pump till the tank is empty and it should clear the obstruction.

Not sure your answer applies.

In this case the overflow occurred while the OP was filling the tank and it was "nearly full".

You are correct. This happened as I was filling the tank. The pump had not yet been turned on.
