What size Generator

I have a 2018 grey wolf 27dbs, and was wondering what everyone uses for generators. I would love a Honda, but already own a champion 4000/3500 watt. I also have a good surge protector that I always have plugged in as well. Is that enough power to run everything (ac, fridge, tv etc)

If it's the open-frame contractor-style Champion, like mine, it's not appropriate for campground usage. Its noise level will violate every campground's rule I know of. I only use mine for home backup power.

If you're boondocking with no one nearby, it'll be fine.

What amperage is your Grey Wolf?
30A or 50A?

BTW... this is one of the most discussed topics on this forum.

A 30A camper can only draw 3600 watts. (A x V = W) 30 x 120 = 3600.

Get an inverter, not a generator. It will run at lower rpm when draw is low, and ramp up when load is high. Inverters also have a much cleaner waveform for modern electronics.

I have two Wen 56200i inverters (rated 2000w surge, 1600w sustained) that I run together with a parallel kit. These are Yamaha EF2000 clones and less than 1/2 the price of Yamaha or Honda. Runs the AC fine and reasonably quiet too. Only run one for coffee maker, etc, when not using ac. Two of these in parallel is quieter than a larger 3500w single generator. So far have been pleased with them.

Of course, Honda is the standard by with all others are measured so you would not go wrong there either.

Chickenwing, you mean inverter generator, not just an inverter.
Two different things.

If you get a continuous 3600 watt you should be fine with a 30 amp RV. Should run everything in there just like at the campground. I had a pair of 2000 watt Hondas paralleled and loved them.

Also consider weight. The 2000W units are around 50lbs or less each. 3000W+ units are usually 100+ lbs. Much easier to load, unload and move the smaller 2000W inverter generators.

We've used this generator for four years and it works great. It has no problems running a 13,500 BTU AC unit. It's also very quiet.
