Wheels rubbing on wheel well issue

Well I've tried all avenues to find out why my drivers side wheels were rubbing on the inside of the wheel well on my 2009 grey wolf I just bought. I spent $700 + getting an alignment done, I put on new tires and I called forest river to no avail so I ended up placing a spacer behind the rim to give me a 1/4" more space to prevent the tire from burning off. I'm convinced the axel was welded incorrectly as one side has 1" clearance and the other only about 1/4". I hope this works and it doesn't loosen off. I'm going to buy a torque wrench and check the lugs several times before and during each trip to be sure.

Is it the same on both axles? Measure from the frame to the inside of the fender well on the one rubbing, could be the inside of the fender well is farther out from the frame. Also measure from back of the hubs to the spring perches on all 4 hubs. Very doubtful the axles were welded wrong, but it is possible.

I think I did measure from the cleats but can't recall. It is possible like you say that the carpenter made the floor 3/4" too wide there. Not sure but someone suggested the spacers so I thought I would share this idea. I'll see how it goes and make an update to this post in the fall. I will also re measure the cleats to the inside of the drums to see if there is a difference. It's been a real pain in the butt.

Driven about 1000 km, problem solved no issues. Re torqued the wheels and no loosening of the studs was found.

Just came across this thread. I have the exact same problem on my 2010 28BH. I got the trailer new in 2011 and had terrible tire wear after 1500 miles. The dealer replaced the axles so I don't know if the original set was rubbing. I don't pull the trailer much but after 3000 miles the tires were slick again so I purchased a new set. When I pulled the wheels I had a terrible rub on the left side. It looks as if the spring hangers were not welded in the center on the frame or possible the floor is not framed correctly. I have about 1/2" clearance on the left and about 2 1/2" on the right. I took several measurements including the saddle distance on the axles. The axles measure the same on both sides, that only leaves the spring hangers or the floor. After several emails to Forest River they said they would send me new axles. They would send a set 3/4" wider on both sides to clear the floor on the left. Now I will have over 3 1/4" on the right, I hope the tire is still under the fender. It will be harder to tow now, the trailer tracking during turns will cause the right sides to come closer to what ever is there, curbs or etc. I will have to be extra careful not to ruin a tire. I picked up a set of spacers to put on the left to give me clearance during the 75 mile pull to the shop. Maybe it will give me enough clearance so I don't ruin the new tires by rubbing. No sign of the axles at the shop yet and the shop said they haven't heard anything about an axle swap. I guess I'll see how it works out.
