$2,000 for Dual Satellite System and It's Hooked Up Wrong

So MotorHomes2Go charged $2,000 to install the DirecTV Trav'ler system to work with the In-Motion system off A/B switches. It all works but they installed on an outlet that isn't powered off the inverter. So once you're in motion, the In-Motion system stops working. Oops, BIG oversight by the installer.
It looks like the power inserter for the In-Motion and the main DirecTV box both need to be up front above the cab where there's constant power and not in the bedroom behind the TV where there isn't.
I sure didn't get my $2,000 worth, did I?
How do you think the dealer should handle this?
Should I ask for a partial refund since now I need to fix this myself?

I would ask, knowing what they will say. Hard to believe these things happen when you spend so much money with them.

Yep Halla. I don't expect much, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
I don't think it will hurt to leave the Trav'ler power inserter in the back. It will only be used when on shore power.
Just need to switch the splitter around for the In-Motion side on the roof because the pass through power from the inserter will be coming from the other direction. It's frustrating because I'm doing work I paid someone else to do. Here's a pic of the Trav'ler up and working. Watched the Penguins win 2 games while camping this weekend in HD. That or see about adding that bedroom circuit to the inverter... I have also seen people for low draw devices, just hook one of those power port inverters to a 12v power line. Just depends on the draw and you probably don't want to plug anything else into that since the wires would be too small.

How hard would it be to add the bedroom outlet to the inverter?

I'm not sure I follow you. The In-motion is powered by 12v, only the DirecTv box is 120v. At least that's how mine works. I ran an outlet off my inverter to run the box and a TV, but usually have the generator running anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

The power inserter for the SWM module and the DTV box both use 120v. So I'd either need to get inverter power to that outlet or move them up front where there already is. Running the genny isn't an alternative in my book.

We always run our generator while driving. No problem watching dish with it running.

Schultz01,
I feel your pain - that's the main reason I do most of my own work - not because I love it, but because it will (eventually) be done right, with attention to detail that you can't realistically expect from the dealer.

I've run across a few mechanics/techs that work in the that mode all the time, but it's rare.

In any case, my 2 cents: figure out the best technical solution, then bring the rig over to them, tell them exactly how you want it fixed. You may just have to be a constant PITA for them until they make it right. I've found that in this industry, the squeaky wheel will eventually get the required grease.

Good luck getting it fixed up, let us know how it turns out.
-Greg

Yep. The one time I leave it to someone else, they disappoint me. Should've known better.
