2016 Isata 3 first service

I just purchased a 1026 Isata 3 with 8,800 miles on it (the original owner purchased it July 29, 2016).

Reading through the manuals, the Sprinter manual says the first service/oil change is not needed until 20,000 miles. Wondering if that applies to RV's, who can run low annual mileage. My Isata is 15 months old, thinking it might be worthwhile to have it serviced now.

The Sprinter service center charges $369 for their Premium Sprinter Service - Includes: Complete chassis lube, engine oil filter, engine fuel filter(s), engine oil, and labor to complete.

Do it now - or wait for 20,000 miles?

I picked my 2017 Isata 3 up in May 2017 and plan to have it serviced at about 10,000 miles or at least every 24 months. We go on mostly short trips, so I still only have about 4,000 miles after 6 months.

Mercedes says 20,000 miles or once a year.

I asked the Service manager at my local Mercedes Dealer the same question.
He said it depends on you're driving. city stop and go, 10,000. short trips and long periods of none use, 10,000 to 15,000, long trips on highway, 15,000-20,000. lots of stop and go or sitting around for long periods unused (week or more) shortens the engines need for fresh oil, running at highway speeds lengthens it (its not the oil but how the engine pollutes the oil). Also don't go more than a year no matter the mileage.
He also said to drain the fuel / water separator filter every 3 or 4 thousand miles, don't wait for the idiot light.
I tend to take his advise since his service department has 49 bays and 2 shifts.

Service Requirement

I serviced my 2016 at one year old and 12,000 miles. Fuel filter is what drives the one year requirement. The Isata 3 has low cargo capacity to reach the 11,030 lb limit and if you tow a vehicle the combined capacity of 15,250 is very easy to reach. Since I am usually at the upper limit I decided to service mine every year and the transmission every other year at about 25,000 miles. Post warranty I will probably do my own services.
