2017 Force HD 37bh slide topper

My bedroom slide topper will not retract. I have pulled on both ends of the material to see if it will free up, which it did not. I am hoping I can get some advise on what to look for when I pull the covers off.
Thanks
Scott

It may that the spring broke or the set screw slipped, once you get the cover off you should be able to see what is going on. Best with two people if you have to remove it.

Could be something jammed in the ends. If you remove the allen screw on each end the front metal cover flips down for cleanout, you can see the gears and springs pretty easy on both ends. our last Force had a horrible squeak in that same bunkhouse slide, after removing some pine needs and lubricating based on recommendations from the slide manufacturer it stopped.

2017 Force HD 37bh slide topper

I had the same problem last week on the living room slide. Turns out the screws holding the the end caps on had worked loose and the spring had lost tension. Easy fix remove end cap and you will need to wind spring one complete turn for each foot length of your slide out ( 12’ slide =12 turns). Then place a pen (I used a rivet ) in the set hole to hold the spring in place. Once you replace and tighten the end cap then remove the set pin and you will be back in business. I did have to remove both end caps and completely unroll the slide cover to be able to slide the slide out back in. Once in roll the cover back up by hand before winding spring.

I pulled the cover off and found a bird next built against the re-tractor.
Cleaned it out and all works well now.
Thanks for the help
