A couple of ISATA 3 newbie questions from first trip

1. Anderson Valve - I know these valves can be finicky. Does it matter which way you turn it?

2. Propane shutoff. On my first fill-up, the attendant at the Pilot truck stop asked me if I had turned off the propane 'inside'. I told him I was unaware of an inside turnoff. He insisted there was one. Is there one? If so, where is it?

Thanks

For #2, the only thing I can think of you can do is turn off the refrigerator and the hot water heater and furnace INSIDE the rig. There should be an outside shutoff valve if it's anything like our REV. Shouldn't be necessary though.

#1. Some have suggested turning off the water supply and relieving the pressure before turning the valve, but it turns either direction.
#2. The individual appliances can be turned off as mentioned above, but there isn't an inside valve or switch that shuts everything off from one place.

Just to be clear on the propane, you can turn off the refrigerator on the control right above the refrigerator door facing.

Yes, what everyone said...but extra "emphasis" on relieving the pressure before turning the Anderson valve.

Even on the Truma, with too much pressure the O-ring in the drain will leak, or the pressure relief will. On this last trip, the pressure was so high, it blew out the O-ring. I had to relieve pressure, Open the drain, reseat the O-ring and put back together. It worked fine after that.

The same thing can happen to the Anderson valve. If the pressure is too high it will try and push the o-ring out of the groove. If you turn it...it can then nick the O-ring causing damage.

I don't know if your Isata is similar to my MBS Solera, but mine has a knob near the floor, by the side door to turn off my propane when I fill up.

Sorry for the dumb question but what is an Anderson valve, what does it do and where is it on the Isata 5 30fw?

1. It is a valve that lets you select water tank, city water or winterize.
2. See #1
3. you don't have one on the 5 as we use the same system that the M2 trucks use.

I have a 5 DS. So when I hook up to shore water where does it go? Through the tank, then through the water filter then into the coach water lines? And as I recall there is a valve on that utility bay panel to flush the black tank. All from the same hose?

Yes, all from the same hose. There is a check valve.

AS it sits, straight hook up is city water. If you flip the valve to fill the tank, it will fill the tank. Once you hear water on the over flow, turn it back off.

You can either for I’ll the tank with city water or send it straight to the faucets. That’s what the Andersen valve does. The tank will only go to the faucets via your onboard pump.

Would have to see the black tank flush as mine is separate but if there’s a point on the valve for that I’d assume that’s where it goes.

Thanks BC. So in RV parks I'm running off of shore water, is that shore water going through the filter next to the tank? Or do I need to add a filter at the shore source?

Add a filter. Trucks just filter the tank from what I can see.

I am working on getting the fresh water prints on that and the 24FW. As far as I can tell, just the incoming water (city and pre-tank) get filtered. it does not re-filter from the tank, but I will confirm

Thanks. That would be OK. I want to make sure it is filtering the city water when using it directly. If it is filtering all water entering the coach, then an exterior filter may not be necessary.
