Add a spare tire holder to the back of 2015 REVrb
The last trip to Ohio, we picked up a nail in the mountains. It was raining and a Sunday. We found a Walmart that was able to fix the tire. The REV has no spare tire and only 4 tires.
I would like to know if this tire holder could be mounted to the back wall. One plate would be on the inside and bolted through the wall to the mount on the back.

what you have referenced is actually a frame or bumper mount spare holder. If you put it through the wall I would be worried that there would be little if any structural support INSIDE the wall that would carry the weight of the spare without buckling the wall. Most walls are nothing more then thin plywood and Styrofoam sandwiched in fiberglass. I would not do that.

Thanks, our 2007 Winnebago View H had the spare mounted on the back wall. We traded it for the REV. The View was on a Sprinter, so it had dual rear tires also that could have been used as a spare. There is no bumper, so no way to bumper mount a spare. There aren't any made to fit the smaller hitch receiver either. :-(

Lippert makes a spare tire carrier and bike rack that fits into a 1 1/4" hitch without an adapter. There may be others but in any case I would add reinforcing to prevent them from rattling back and forth in the hitch. Even a couple of cables with turnbuckles bolted to further out on the bumper would help.

I suggest you contact etrailer dot com.... call them and talk to a rep and ask if they have any solution for your situation. They are very helpful, with fast free shipping for items over $100 (I think). I would be suprised if you do not have a 2 inch receiver on the back... not 1 1/4"... but I don't know for sure.

Unfortunately it is 1 1/4" I guess they don't want you to pull a car. I have a bike rack that fits 1 1/4" that we use. I wouldn't take the bikes on a long trip.

I contacted Lippert about the 1 1/4 inch spare tire adapter, but it is only 15" high. That puts the tire in front of the license plate.
We checked on the bike and spare tire holder combo a while back and it wouldn't hold the Promaster tire. It was too short.

If you are behind a mail truck, you can see where the spare tire goes. The mail trucks don't have the spares on them. Most of the RV's built on the Promaster put the generator where the spare tire would mount.

Photo of carrier
I have been using the Lippert spare tire/ bike carrier on my 2018 REV. Gives me peace of mind knowing that I have a spare available.

BAL - Innovative Products for the RV Industry
You could give something like that a consideration. We just purchased one, been seeing them on new units. Havent installed it yet, so I cant offer feedback on it. Just another option that is out there.

Spare tire
I added a spare tire to the front of my REV. The rear is already overloaded. I've driven about 6,000 miles, much in hot Florida weather, with no issue of engine overheating, which was my big concern.

Do you have any more information on that? It does look like it blocks the license plate. Where did you get it?
Thanks
Tom

As long as you stay on flats, you are likely ok. If you ever venture out to the west and go up real mountains, I think you may have an issue.

We are in Leesburg, about 40 miles northwest of Orlando. I purchased the tire carrier online from Lippert components. I installed a clamp on the shank to minimize movement. The tire does cover the plate, so far no problem. I have an alternate mounting if needed.

I ordered the Lippert spare tire/bike carrier Nov 20. It was back ordered and just arrived Friday, Dec 7. Of course, we were gone in the REV and just got back today and picked it up from our neighbor.
Did you have to notch the bumper to be able to slide it all the way into the receiver? It hits the bumper before the holes line up to put a pin in.
Thanks Tom
