They really make an RV that doesn't have a gravity fill? Wow! I just have a 50 gallon tank in my truck and use a siphon. If I'm camped right next to a lake, and don't want to dump grey water on the ground, I use my extra Shurflo pump to pump the gray water into a different tank in my truck, and take it somewhere else to dispose of it.

Good Solution

My own experience boondocking with my 2018 Leprechaun 210RS is that if my fresh water tank is empty and needs more water, it's irrelevant because my black and gray tanks are full so I have no place to move the fresh water to as I use it. (Yes, I've read all the discussions about how it's OK to dump the gray water on the ground, I just prefer not to do it if not absolutely necessary, and prefer to move someplace to find a dump station rather than dump gray water on the ground. No need to reopen that discussion.)
Adrian thanks for another good solution. I have to agree that with our setup (Freelander 21RS) we have the same use as yours. We just took our first ever boondocking trip to upstate New York (Harvest Hosts) and really enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as the beautiful scenery along side an apple orchard (Love Apple Farm) in Ghent New York. It was a great trip. Found we have a great dump site about 3 miles from our home at Westover Air Force Base. They charge $10.00 for the use but thats ok with me, they have to keep the place up and its great to have one nearby. We had a 5 gallon tank of water with us and when we got low on the FW we just used it in the toilet.

Going to take a trip to Wisconsin in October and will be looking for more boondocking sites until we get to our destination. Looking forward to it. Thanks for another good solution.

I have colapsable 5 gallon jug. Put a piece of plastic hose on it. Placed it on a folding table and stool to raise it high enough put hose in and turned on valve, and walked away untill drained.

Another pump option....

If you have ryobi tools they make a duel power 18v / 120vpump. This expense may also be useful for other projects.

Im not sure that would provide enough pressure to overcome the in-line check valve at the fill point. If you have just the open gravity style I can see that working but for mine I have to have pressure greater than gravity can supply.

Here was my solution. Harbor Freight transfer pump, 21 gallon RV tank from PPL and some hose and fittings. Works great

Go to harbor fright or order on line from them. They have a 12v pump with garden hose fittings. To short pieces of hose your done.

I have the same transfer pump as JoeCampsNE from Harbor Freight.

http://https://www.harborfreight.com...=transfer+pump

$44.99, but with a 20% or 25% off coupon, not a bad deal. I mounted it to a 3/8" piece of plywood just a bit smaller than the box it came in and it fits back in the box for storage.
I bought clear vinyl hose and fitting so I could see what is going on.
No more lifting 6 gallon water jugs!

Make a funnel

I bought an offset funnel from an auto parts online store. I cut it off so I had a 90 degree funnel. It fits perfectly in the water fill opening. Then I just pour from a water can or bucket.

I bought a small 12V marine deck wash down pump to pump water from a container on the ground or truck bed into the FW inlet. I put a 4 pin trailer plug on the power cord and power it from the dual trailer plug on my TV.

adding water while at the state park

this was going to be a problem this year...so I go a battery powered siphon pump from Home Depot. I got mine on Internet Clearance at $6.20 now about $16.00 again but still not costly.

I'm guessing I may need a drill pump or similar? I know in the winterize position the onboard pump will extract the liquid and run it through the system but not into the tank of course. All of my previous RV's were trailers and just had a pipe that you could pour water into easily with a separate city connection.
I purchased a FloTool battery operated siphon pump from Menards SKU #2609857 for gas cost $11.99. It is a fluid pump and should work for water. Specs say pumps 7qt per min. Never thought about it until this thread came up but I think I will buy one for my 5er to carry for just that purpose.

In a lot of cases, a pump for fuel is NOT designed to pump WATER. They are built differently (some are) and pumps for fuel rely on the fuel for lubrication. Water would destroy that type of pump.

While you are correct with some pumps, I check with the the manufacturer and this pump is designed for fluids including water in their specs.

I can still hold a five gallon jug so I bought an automatic transmission funnel - sort of a plastic funnel with a flexible spout and labeled it "H20 ONLY". It is much easier to hold the jug and pour onto the funnel that DW holds than to try to pour directly into the little freshwater opening on the side of the camper! I think I spent all of $5.00 on the funnel that was purchased three campers ago.

Similar to TitanMike, I upgraded the water pump in my previous TT and mounted the old pump on a board with a water-proof switch for use in pumping water from 5 gallon containers into my gravity fill port. I moved to a fifth wheel this year so I've swapped the alligator clips to a cigarette lighter style 12V plug and I'll mount the female plug near the battery. I also have a NOCO GB70 that I can get power from.
