Another day another problem
When I stepped in the coach this evening it was quite warm so I decided to turn on the vent fans to cool it off. When I tried to turn them on from the control panel (isata5) all I got was a quick beep and the fan running for a split second - then nothing. I tried turning them on manually, with the remote control and from the control panel and no luck. The users manual was no help. Any suggestions?

Is the 5 like the 4, with full multiplex ?
My control panel " allows power to them" but I still have to use the remote.
I think......

Kenny you are correct. I thought this might be the solution last night at 3:30 when I could not sleep. First I had to turn on the fans on the master control panel and then use the remotes to control them. Seems like a bit of redundancy.

Yes...engineering originally thought we could control the fans through the panel...but the interface with the fans was proprietary. Unfortunately they were already harnessed that way and the thought was that if you set the temp sensor, you could still use the panel. In the end, I had them take the fan control out of the panel and just hard wire them to use the remotes only to prevent confusion. Once they open up the communication language on the fan, we could use the control panel again...maybe.

To paraphrase someone in a prior post:
I think these multiplex/control panel systems are a solution in search of a problem.
And they seem to be more a "problem" in their own right.

I see no problem with them. It's progress.
The carburetor is being phased out too..

Let's also not confuse some "scabbed on" multiplex with a true multiplex system. We passed on an "inexpensive but seemingly everywhere" panel control system because it was not truly multiplex (gives the system a bad name). It is a standard wired system that adds touch pad and app control. A true multiplex systems reduces wire runs and weight dramatically. The panel/app control are simply extensions of that since you need software for the control portion...which means that can be leveraged for a lot of other capabilities.
There is certainly a learning curve to it, but much easier to troubleshoot once you learn it.

I really like the multiplex system. Lots of controls from one location. Simple solution for my simple mind. I just gotta learn the quirks.

And that one was not the fault of the multiplex. That quirk was us trying to have the system do everything, but by going to a better fan (rain cover built in, remote, Temp sensor) we ran into a language barrier. The fan can't talk to the software.

I do understand the complexities of getting one software to work with another

Carburetors and control panels are apples and oranges to me. I believe that fuel injection is the next best thing to slice bread compared to the crappy carburetor, which anyone who's ever worked on one back in the day would probably agree was a "necessary evil," because no one knew how to build anything else. I don't think anyone would disagree that a digital thermostat is a huge improvement on an analog. And maybe putting the thermostat on a "control panel" might be OK.
But I don't see that a panel that's either mounted in another room or that I have to carry around with me simply to turn on the light in the bedroom is an improvement. Hence "a solution in search of a problem." Cars use this multiplex stuff, but they still put a real live window switch at the rear passengers door; not some icon on a panel up front where they can't reach it.
Any weight savings (maybe 50 lbs?) is hardly worth it, IMHO.

And to be clear, the multiplex you're referring to is the one I mentioned, imitation. Ours is a real multiplex and we have hard buttons as well. So best of both worlds.
Real live light switches right next to the door. Gen start in multiple locations or via phone app if you want Bluetooth module.

Understand now. THAT system I could live with.

My bedroom light switch is in the bedroom.. along with the gen start.
It really is a very well thought out and useful system.

Unless you have actually seen and used one, you really have no clue.

But as Brian said, you'd better know which system you have.
There's another thread going here on the forum where a guy does NOT have switches in his bedroom and his control panel isn't working. So he's stuck.
