Attempted Break In
I store my DX3 in a gated almost secure storage lot that is part of a 55+ year old Master Planned Community in St George, UT. Was at the RV yesterday afternoon and then went back today a little before noon to find some would be thief had tried to break into it. The pictures show the damage to the RV entrance (don't know why they got rotated). Good news is that they didn't get in just damaged the black trim around the door. Both locks work...from the inside. The door frame has a couple of scratches and the dead bolt may be slightly bent. They also tried the cab doors but didn't do much damage.
It looks like the outer frame of the door can be replaced?
Only other rig that was messed with was a Jayco Super C; had his entrance lock screwed up but not the door. Guess the thief new Class when he saw it and only wanted to get into a Dynamax

Thats too bad. Looks like an amateur too. Hard to believe in a gated community locked up.

Sorry to hear about the attempted break in.
I have no idea how difficult that door would be to fix. The lock looks like a complicated repair with that keyless entry system.
Unfortunately a gated community doesn't guarantee that someone can't jump a fence or find another way into your storage. Around here it's Spring Break Week and bored children find all sorts of ways to relieve their boredom.
Hope you get it fixed soon and that it doesn't cause you to delay a trip.

I don't know if the door edge extrusion is available by itself or whether you will end up replacing the whole door.
I would contact Dynamax and see what they have to say.
To the best of my knowledge, the doors are built in a jig and replacing an extrusion that holds it together may not be feasible.

We were concerned about break ins.
While traveling if they are crazy enough to face a pissed off Airedale terrier so be it. They like to bite too much.
We have insurance. But, frankly, there is not a lot to steal in our rv. Who wants a Jensen 50” tv. Or a cast iron skillet.
My whiskey I would miss.
Built in appliances are too hard to steal.
My Honda 2200 maybe if he has a good bolt cutter.
The wife does not take sparklies with us.
My wallet is in my pocket. The terrier is with me at night.

It's not generally what they take but the damages. I had a class A broken into, it looked like they used a rock or hammer to smash a whole in the door, they are pretty week on many, not sure about the dynamax

The door itself isn't damaged and the door frame isn't damaged. Just the lock mechanism and the black frame around the door. That looks like it could be removable; it is held on by some rivets and screws/bolts. I will check with Dynamax next week unless the fount of all knowledge, bclemens, would like to give some input on possible solutions.
Thanks for your comments and support. When I find out anything will follow up.

I would flatten that out and reinforce it with a steel bar and paint it to match. Thieves see that and "MIGHT" just keep going. Just make the steel bar wider in the latch area so they can't get a wedge in there,, and use rivets,, not nuts and bolts.

I used a piece of 2X4 on end and a big mallet to try to smooth out the bent out portion of the door frame. Right. Bent it down a bit so the weather stripping touches the frame now but that's it. It is pretty strong stuff. I started to bend up the part of the door frame from the painted side of the door and had to push that back down. There really isn't much room to attach a piece of steel to the area of the door latches and someone would still be able to pry it up some. Just have to have a strong enough door latch and house side latch to keep the "casual" thief from getting in. And, it appears that that is the case with my coach.

With all the tech these days, I wonder f there is an alarm that notifies your phone that someone is breaking in. Maybe even be video of the interior..might require wi-fi at the storage facility though.

Yes there is and they use LTE cellular systems to notify you. You just need to have power on all the time in your coach.

Sorry to hear of your issues.
The door is manufactured by Challenger Doors. They will need the numbers off of the door jamb near the bottom on the hinge side.
I would think that insurance would cover. I will bet the door may be replaced as a unit complete with new lock and paint. Won't be cheap.
Best would be just a frame and lock replace --- less expensive.
Let us all know the outcome.

Some may remember that coming out of a parking place at a Freightliner dealer I didn't compensate for the tail swing and the rear end hit the fire truck that was also parked there and ripped a good part of the rear cap off. All said and done it cost almost $19,000 to fix, I have $1,000 deductible. For some odd reason I don't think I want to send this on to my insurance company unless it is really outrageous.
I will be getting hold of different people this week to check on pieces and parts, so thank you for the information about who makes the door. I'll also be looking at someone nearby that can replace it, probably the good folks down in Las Vegas at Big Rig Collision that fixed the rear cap and they did a wonderful paint job.
I'll update as I can I'll update as I can.

I have an alarm system that uses cellular to contact me via text. Tattltale is the company. Has motion sensor and door contacts and the annual fee isnt too bad. Has given us peace of mind at truck stops and other areas we leave the Force.
