I would suspect a faulty switch making slight contact or a short in the circuit somewhere and it's back feeding through the bulbs. Are you able to turn them off individually or remove the bulbs so you can sleep?
it was strange. it happened on friday and it rained a lot on friday. they were fine saturday night until early (3am-getting up with the dog) and they were dimly lit. got outside with the dog and it was foggy. would it have anything to do with dampness??
Disconnect one of the switch wires. If the light(s) go fully out, your switch needs replaced. There's no danger of shock IF you have LED lighting. If no change, you have a sneak circuit or a miss-wire somewhere.
Thanks for the problem. I thought my DW was crazy when she complained about it. I never noticed. I did have it checked out but all they did was break the plastic vent on the floor. I did finally see it, but haven't seen it for a while now nor has the DW. Like the ceiling fan, after two new motors they checked the switch which fixed the problem.
haha... we never saw it until last friday. the next night they were fine until later. i have a feeling it has to do with the dampness. but who knows. glad yours is fixed. mine will be soon.
