Bike Rack

In case anyone is in need of an RV rated Bike Rack, I recently purchased one from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is a two bike rack and it has a 2 inch insert for the hitch. It also came with a 4" bumper bracket in case your RV did not have a receiver. The tires fit in loops and a large J hook slides down one notch at a time to sandwich the bikes. We went camping a few weeks ago and my buds behind me saw no movement in the rack.

The rack has an anti rattle bolt that is threaded into the received with a hitch pin. There were two more bottom bolts that stopped all movement.

This is my third rack of different brands and so far this more is the most secure.

The Swagman stuff is good. But there's ZERO chance I'd trust a bumper mount no matter the maker.

Yep, unless the receiver is welded AND braced to the frame and bumper, I'd never trust this kind of setup.

People just don't get how the physics of leverage work, when the loaded rack will move down and back while bouncing down the road because nearly all trailers don't have shocks.

My bikes are too valuable to risk in such a vulnerable location, where I can't see them.

But Swagman makes a great product.
My current bike rack is a Swagman.

Bike Rack

I’ve got about $5k worth of bikes hanging off a north shore rack.
Not many racks accept fat bikes without a ton of adapters.

As an alternative, we've had this bike rack for more than 10 years :

https://www.amazon.com/59400-Hitch-2...rola+bike+rack

Super easy to mount/dismount the bikes. Very secure. Comes with a built in lock.

Excellent rack.

North shore all the way. No damage to bikes. Heavy as a tank.

When we had a 5th wheel I installed a receiver on the front of my F250. The bikes rode in front. Later I made and installed a receiver mount on the pin box and the bikes rode there.

Bike Rack Option

We have been using this Bike Rack for about 5 years now, ran on the back of my fifth wheel with a welded hitch to the frame. extremely solid rack a bit pricey, but worth the extra expense for the peace of mind knowing that the rack could have been potentially bouncing around lots with or without the bikes.

Anyone have a suggestion for carrying 2 recumbent trikes. about 65" long each? I have been looking for a rack to put on the back hitch of our DX3.
Also has to pull car dolly.

You could look at the 6 place rack from north shore racks. Might be the only one, wide enough to fit both.

Thanks
contacted North Shore and they did reply. Won't work for the trike model we have.
Looks like I will have to work with a fab shop and make our own.

if working with a Fab shop, would it be feasible to build a longer car dolly, have a platform on the front of it kind of like a flat bed trailer and dolly at the rear

will be thinking of options.

DW doesn't want to haul our 24ft enclosed car trailer. would be easier and have all the room I need. BUT boss wants different setup.

DX3 39ft trailer w/tongue 27 ft. total 66 ft. I say why not.

will work up design and cost to custom build then she may change her mind. (DW is an accountant)

Have you checked Hostel Shoppe? They appear to have what you need. It'll be over $1K, but I'm guessing that's still cheaper than custom fabricated.

(edit: you'd have to combine one of those racks with an adapter similar to what Kenny kustom posted earlier in this thread)

Why won’t it work?
They are really, really sticklers when it comes to anything that they don’t like.
They almost wouldn’t sell me a rack, when I told them it was for a motorhome.

They said that the type of trike that we have (2 wheels at the back) would not work because it would not fit their bar or the fork hooks (?)

Anyway I will have to take their word for it. I sent them the specs and pictures of the trikes and that is what they came back with.

Thanks for the suggestion tho really appreciate it.
