Break in period

I will be picking up my new I5 next Friday cant wait. I plan on towing my
Ram 1500 Back home (about a 200 mile trip). My question, is there a breakin period on the ram 5500 that would not recommend towing right away. Any advice will be appreciated

The manual most likely says not to tow with the new MH for the first 500 miles. However the unit probably has met that by being driven from factory to dealer. Later RJD

I expect if you take it slow and vary speed you will be ok even if it is not fully broken in. I bought a new 2017 Ford F-350 Diesel Dually and needed to drive it home about 5 miles from the dealer and tow my 9,000 lb Rockwood 4 hours to DC. I asked the service manager at the dealership and he said hook it up and roll. So that is what I did.

That's smart, one less thing to worry about. Spend the night at the dealer to test everything if they'll let you. Congrats!

Renting a car is a good idea. Protect your investment. I don't know what an I5 is, but I can tell you that diesel engines take a long time tototally break in, as in 15,000 miles or more. Their longevity is enhanced by breaking them in before towing with them. I would do some more research on this subject.
