Burnt Bird to BIM Retrofit 2017 XL

My Bird melted at the ground terminal a few weeks ago so I decided to upgrade to the Precision Circuits BIM 225. Brian was kind enough to provide a wiring diagram . BIM 225 and diode was ordered from Danielle at Dynamax parts.

Installation was straight forward. Below are a couple of best practices I ran into.

1. Power Glide Slide power cable needs to be connected to power on (House Side)
2. P3 connecter with wires that were on old solenoid was hooked up to Buss Bar on (Chassis Side)
3. Buss Bar was needed because chassis power cable from solenoid had no free play to run to BIM.
4. Bird and Solenoid had to be removed to make room for Buss Bar
5. MP Micro circuit breaker on (Chassis Side) is not used as far as I can tell. No voltage coming in.
6. ABS battery switch on dash does not light up red like it did before. Not sure if it is working or not. That is the purpose of the light green connection on right side of BIM

Thank you for the information. I have a question, what diode number &/or specs and where in the circuit is it connected?
Thanks for sharing the info.

Brian posted this drawing of the BIM a few weeks ago. It shows the diode but no further info on it's size. I called Dynamax parts and ordered one; should be here next week sometime.

I'm looking forward to getting the Li-Bim installed with my new lithiums.

Thanks, must have missed that one. I am also going to lithium as my current battery bank is getting older. I have a victron monitor installed and am very careful with our discharge/charge cycles as we boondock a lot .

Can you share the details on the diode?

I wasn’t able to get any specs off the diode but it was pretty pricey, I believe somewhere in the $40 range. Sorry.

Thanks. I wonder why its not noted on the BIM diagram from the manufacturer but is on the retrofit diagram from Dynamax. Obviously something different in the wiring...I just don’t know what.
