Curling Valances

Has anyone out there experienced the ends of the pattered material valance plaque's curling up on the ends? And if you have what was your fix? Seems like they must be plastic covered in foam and material. They are fastened to the valance with velcro. Maybe they are heat curled? Ideas?

Nope, not in my I5.

yes - I had this happen on my I3. A few became unattached. I ended up removing them all together.

Fixed them all. They are made of cardboard and the velcro adhesive must have released in our Az/Cal heat. I used 1/4" staples to refasten the velcro to the back of the stick on valance plaques and curling solved.

I have not seen this before. It is a shame that something like this happened and you had to fix it. Glad you were able to take care of it in a way satisfactory to you. However, I must say I am surprised to learn carboard is used in the valance.

The I5 has less hard wood than the bigger coaches too, more vinyl wrapped composites and such. Light weight. On the I5 they have to do a lot to reduce weight to improve CCC. Every little bit helps.

same problem on our 30fw. adding more velcro, will see if it works. i think humidity is a culprit.

Maybe, we don't usually get that but it has rained for the past two months so could be. Anyway the glue backing pulled off the paper so the 1/4" staples did the trick, I use the small ones on a little desk stapler. And the velcro seems to be holding them now.

Simple fixes are good!

To be clear, I don't think it is cardboard. I know they sometimes use MDF panels. or Lauan. They also typically use OSB for the top material. We have now asked them to use lumber-core in the top of the valence so that screws hold better. We did that across the board about 6 months ago.

I know that MouseHouse wanted to recover her valances in the Disney, so we sent "just" the substrate material. As I recall when it came in, all the small pieces were lauan

Valance may be wood, we are only talking about the patterned portion and that is velcro'd onto the covered (solid color) valance which is made of wood I think, it has screws into for the brackets. But look at the photo of the curled up material. The backing appears to be some sort of paper board with the fabric and some underlying foam stapled to it. The staples I used to refasten the velcro appear to be holding so far. I should have taken some photos of the back side.
