Dolly tow

I have a 2017 Isata 3 and recently bought a Karkady dolly. What vehicles are y’all towing? I haven’t bought anything yet.

I flat tow a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. If you bought a dolly, be sure and get a vehicle that is approved for dolly towing. The owner's manual in the Jeep says you have to either flat tow it or haul it on a trailer. Not sure why but they say it is unsafe to dolly tow the Jeep.

I would think (but check to be sure) any front wheel drive car, that is not all wheel drive, should be OK to dolly tow.

2013 Jeep rubicon 2 door
No need for dolly
But if I had a dolly, might tow my Tesla model 3

We tow a Jeep Patriot, 4 down. In California with the 55 mph speed limit while towing we have gotten around 14 mpg.

We have the same brand dolly that the wheels turn with our DX and can be locked straight for backing up. Since mostly the two of us we tow a Mini Cooper automatic just fine.

I'm wanting to eventually tow something behind our Isata 3, but everything I've read leads me to believe flat towing is the best due to the added tongue weight and limited ccc of the MBS chassis. I'm sure it depends on what you have loaded on the tow dolly, but how much weight (ballpark) gets added to the tow vehicle?

Flat towing adds no tongue weight. I've never used a dolly, do they add much tongue weight?

You will need to reduce the available towing capacity by the weight of the dolly

Bill, that is what I'm asking, too, in my poorly worded post.

the KarKaddy 3, per online manual, states it will add 200 pounds hitch weight. On an Isata 3, that is likely at least 20% of ccc. I never thought I would tow a car behind an RV, but we are now thinking that we may. Neither of our current cars can be dingy towed, so that would mean trading one of them for a suitable car; a manual Corolla seems to be a good candidate but availability of used ones will probably be limited. The irony is that we went with a motorhome , in part, because we did not want to get a another car that could tow a trailer. We have rented cars a few times when in an area for more than a few days, and that has worked. If your CCC is more than ours, at 800 pounds, a dolly may meet your needs.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to flat towing a 2 door jeep Wrangler.
