Door keypad is MIA

At the track I like to lock the door when we are away form the rig. With a large crew that I have its nice that they can come and go without a key. The problem is the keypad sometimes has power and works...other times nothing...no power the keys don't light up and does not respond to a code to lock/unlock. Is there something I am missing?

Check the bottom of the door frame, below the hinge. There are 2 or 3 contacts, ours was not making good contact and needed adjusted.

This allows the power to go into the door to power the pad.

I’ve also had the same problem. If I’ve had the door open for a long time it won’t work when I close ad try to lock. After shutting the door and waiting a minute it works perfectly every time.. not sure if there’s a rechargeable battery in there because mine still lights up even with the door open

Depends. If the keypad is integrated into the door latch, then it was battery operated.

If the keypad is completely separate from the door latch, it is hard wired and to get the wire into a moving door, there are metal pins and contacts at the lower jamb, hinge side.

Yup, my exact problem. The first keypad was defective and they replaced it. Then it started to intermittently work. Cleaned the contacts and it works perfectly.
