DX3 Roto-cast storage bin experiences?
Current DX3 owners - Do you have problems with weight management in your exterior storage bins? I was looking at the DX3 in Tampa, really nice rig, checks most all the boxes, but was underwhelmed by the bins. Can you mount a tool box or exterior freezer?
Mr. Clemons, your presence and activity here has kept the DX3 at the head of my list. Thank you!

As long as you distribute the weight you should be fine.
You also have access to the floor framing/rails if you wanted to mount a rack or frame to where the boxes attach. Lots of options.

Thank you!
I went to Tampa specifically to see 2 RVs - DX3 and Verona. The Dynamax sales folks (1 of each) were less than helpful with anything technical - which I kind of get - but it was like trying to buy a car "Oh look! There's a mirror on the visor!"
Your factory rep that I spoke to wouldn't or couldn't answer this very question. Kept trying to get me to talk about finishes and colors. I walked away thinking I had struck Dynamax from the list. A friend, who had kindly traveled the 4000 miles with me from Alaska, pointed out that one person's bad behavior should not be held against the brand.
All this to say thank you for your response. I was really wanting to know how the bins are mounted to the chassis and what kind of options for attaching things are available.

That surprises me. All my factory reps are well trained (several times here at the factory) and have seen the product being built over and over.
Most boxes are "saddle" boxes, which means they run side to side and physically sit on the chassis frame. Then the top edges are fastened with washers into steel framing. Then on the perimeter there is a steel outside frame. The bottom lip rests on that steel angle and gets riveted to the steel. See pictures below. Those boxes aren't going anywhere and again, you could tie into the steel frame itself if you had something heavy. Just line them up where we fasten the box.

Perfect. Thank you so much.
Mr. Clemens, I'm sure I just caught the one rep I spoke to having a moment. I don't think most of the reps I've talked to in the last couple years (at any company) are quite sure what to do with the old redhead lady who wants to ask odd mechanical questions. If I'm spending this kind of money, you can be darn sure I'm doing lots of research!
By the way - can you stop improving the DX3? I just get all set to buy and - shazam - another nifty-new-can't-live-without-it is just a few months out.

Unfortunately we don't shut down like the automotive industry...so to try and do everything all at model change is tough. So we make incremental changes so that they are all done by model change. On the bright side, you can get 18 changes before 18, on the dark side...it might always be a bit of a surprise

So another question...can the washer/dryer in the RB model be stacked vs. side-by-side? If they were stacked, the extra floor space would make a great kennel for the doberman!

Unfortunately not. Slide room reduces the overall height available. It could go on the shelf above the washer and dryer...but then there's the whole ramp or spiral staircase issue.

She's intact, as in ears and tail. We're all redheads here - her, me, even the truck is copper.
I'm 26 between the ears, but haven't been able to pull that off face-to-face for a looonngg time.

Wow, totally different looking dog with ears intact. better looking dog I think. Who thought those pointy ears and nub tail was a good thing?

The vet says the tail dock is because their tails get so beat up day-to-day. She always has a nick somewhere.
I think the ear crop is pure intimidation. Mine is death on small rodents, but otherwise a total softy.

Of course, she sounds like a doberman when she barks, and that's really all it takes!

Actually just the sight of her is enough for most people. She can be the sweetest dog on the planet but she'll be feared cause she's a Dobi. Your stuff is safe
