Dynamax Isata 3 RW Mattress

This is an issue that I hope bclemens will help me with.

We have a Dynamax 2017 Isata 3 with a rear slide and the mattress is the wrong size. The top portion of the mattress sits on a platform and is thinner Thant the bottom portion of the mattress that sits on a lower platform when the slide is out. The top portion of the mattress is too long - it hangs over the platform by 2 inches makin a dip in the middle of the bed; there is nothing to support this extra 2 inches of mattress.

We have looked at other models the same as ours and the mattresses fit fine.

I have been in contact with Brian Meeks, Warranty Manager at Dynamax and he assured me that I could get a replacement mattress. We took our RV to a local Forest River Service Department for warranty work. The new mattress delivered last week and we were just informed this morning that the mattress is again the wrong size!

My husband made a 2 inch spacer to put under the overhang, but it is not an ideal solution. We paid a lot of money for this RV to have our sleeping area not be comfortable.

Does anyone else have this problem and what has been your solution?

Bclemens, what can we do to get a mattress that fits correctly?

Is there a chance the slide isn't going out all the way?

Nope, that’s not it. Service people checked it and agreed the mattress is wrong size.

Not the wrong size mattress...it is the wrong size slide floor. It needs an extension added to it, or we would have to build a custom mattress.

And I feel your pain...literally. I took a proto-type floor plan out of another model with this design. My wife didn't notice, but it landed RIGHT where my hips were so my legs ended up being elevated...not in the good, "from the bottom of your butt, lazy boy legs raised", but elevated from my belt line. Very awkward.

I'll figure out what we did here to add on to that slide floor and let you know. Not sure which would be quicker. In the meantime...you are not crazy.

Thanks for the quick reply.

How was the wrong size floor made in the first place?

My husband cut a large piece of heavy styrofoam to place under the top mattress, because like yours, the bottom portion is also elevated. Then he made a 2 inch box to extend the floor slide. This works for now, but we’d really like to have a fitting mattress.

I think the slide floor was cut off at the slide fascia, when it really needed to extend out. We ended up catching it, but obviously not all of them.

Do you think they can make us a custom mattress? We’ve been dealing with this for almost a year now.

If that is your preference, we can ship directly to you. I am told it was 4.5" short. If you can confirm that (just to be safe) I'll get engineering to draw it up and get the process started.

My apologies that it took this long to get to the bottom of it. I have passed this on to service in case anyone else runs into this.

altlamp, can you PM me your VIN (last 8 is fine)? I want to make a note in the VIN file so everyone else that looks at your file knows that this is in process and its not some great shock when you follow up for an ETA

Got it...thanks. We actually had it drawn up from when it happened originally (just in case) and a part number for it. So other than lead time and shipping it shouldn't take as long.

I was just about to confirm address...but you were a step ahead, so I'll get it rolling.

Just in case someone else stumbles on this issue...here is the print and part number.

Brian

Off subject but I noticed that you sent a drawing of the Isata 5 FW. Can I have the Elevation Drawing of the ISATA 5 DS 4x4?
Thanks,
Casey

4x4 and 4x2 are the same. I don't think I have seen a difference in ride height.

Elevation drawing

The dimensions are different. I was thinking of widow sizes and such, for window awnings and other add ons. What good is a toy if you can't play with it...
