Factory Visit

We had some frequent flyer miles to burn so we decided to go to Dynamax this week in Elkhart, IN. We flew from Denver into Chicago O'Hare airport and rented a car. It was an easy 2.5 hour drive from the airport to Elkhart, be sure and get the toll road box pre-paid in your rental car or you will be stopping like 5 or 6 times each direction for toll booths along the way.

The weather was sunny, in the 40's and the roads were dry. The Dynamax facility is just a few miles off the interstate and simple to find, tons of hotel and restaurants in the immediate area too.

We were met in the front office by Gareth, one of their marketing folks, since everyone else was supposed to be at the Tampa RV show. He was very friendly and knowledgeable of their products. We were introduced to our customer service person for Colorado, Brandon, so its nice to know who were talking to if we ever need technical support.

We were given a full tour of the manufacturing facility and production lines, there are quite a few new DX3, Force HD, Dynaquest and Isata rigs coming down the line. So for you that are waiting, keep the faith, your new rigs are on the way. The average 2-3 new rigs coming off the line each day. It was very interesting to see all of the assembly processes for the floors, walls, etc.

Next, we were taken to the final completion facility where rigs go after coming off the main assembly line. And, we got to finally see our own actual rig, in-person, for the very first time. Its all painted and completed with the exception of the electronics remaining to be installed (TV's, fireplace, etc). Along the way we picked up Joe Eash, who was still around because he somehow missed his flight that morning to Tampa. It was great to have him there to go over the rig with us. We went over it very carefully and only found a few very minor issues. Joe tagged each item and wrote it up to be corrected before final release. In fairness, Dynamax had not yet completed their own final inspection so they probably would have caught these few items even if we hadn't showed up.

Attached is a photo that describes better than words how the wife feels about the new rig! You have to love a women that actually wanted a Freightliner Super C versus a Class A DP because "the Freightliner chassis looks big truck tough and has more towing power for you". Nuff said

Their guestimate was that it should leave their facility no later than the end of next week (Feb 2nd). That assumes they have no supplier shortages, etc. It still needed to have all of the TV's and the fireplace installed, plus a few punch list item fixes. Then it needs to get transported to Lazy Days in Longmont and they need to do what ever prep work they do. It would be nice if it was ready for us to pick up for Valentine's Day since the wife is the most excited about getting it.

Heres a few more pictures the wife took:
