Force HD and DX3 Cruising

Just curious for the Force HD and DX3 and anybody else for that matter, what is your comfortable and your rigs comfortable cruising speed on a good Highway or Interstate?

I’ve settled in at 70mph and am happy there. It’ll do 75 Ok but everything seems to be working harder and shaking more. Find 70 much more relaxed and extra for when you need it

I've settled in at 65mph. Not the fastest or slowest, but keeping trucking. Have been upto 80mph before, but found 65-67 comfortable for me to drive.

Engine runs about 1700 at that speed and has been consistent fuel mileage in the 9's.

Thanks guys. Thats consistent with what I found driving down to Florida this trip. When I got over 70 it felt to me like I was having to push it hard. I felt like I was having to stay after it to keep it at that speed if that makes any sense.

On a side note: There is a Renegade Valencia came in to the campground today and I stopped by to talk to the guy. It was a 2018 and he traded in a 2016 DX3 for it and he was after the "newer" suspension. He said he wished he had his DX3 back.

The guy with the Renegade told me to use the cruise control instead of the pedal and it would help. Will try that on the way home.

I usually set the cruise control ~ 62MPH trying to achieve the best fuel economy. I recently purchased the Silverleaf system (hardware & software) which, when properly set up, should tell me, in real time, how my engine is performing. I expect to have some free time available in the next few weeks and, hope to get it properly set up. Silverleaf MUST be set up on a Windows OS tablet or laptop and, I'm a Mac OS user so, I have a learning curve to climb.

Cruise control set at 66 mph. Seems to be the "sweet spot" for the engine on my DX3.

My sweet spot seems to be around 65 mph. On some freeways I've had it up to 75 -80 mph but at that speed I'm having to "drive" it. Around 65 mph we're just cruisin' down the highway.

Down hills, felt like 95 but have only gone over 80-85 very briefly, little shaky

I use the cruise control set at 70, will cruise faster but it eats a lot more fuel to just gain 5 mph. Plus since I'm typically towing heavy I like being able to slow down quicker. I do override the cruise if I see a long, straight uphill section coming so I can get a run at it.

I saw some threads a few weeks back about how some rigs Jake brakes work, I'm not sure what they were driving though. But my Jake works fine with the cruise turned on.

Mine is not a Force HD or a DX3, but it seems that I roll about the same. Usually set the cruise once I am out of the hills at 65-68. One annoying thing on this older Cat is that the exhaust brake doesn't work while the cruise is on. I have to be careful, I have had the cruise let me roll 90 mph down a hill! I didn't like that at all !!!!

Yikes. Yeah on the newer ones it kicks in 5 mph over the cruise setting which I like because it allows for some coasting between hills. I know dlfishing had his adjusted to kick in right at the cruise setting as well
