There is no business case that justifies a motor home. When you consider purchase cost, licensing, fuel, maintenance and doo-dads, you could buy a top dollar luxury car, drive to your destination (or fly) and stay in 5 star hotels the entire way and you will still spend less. There is no break even point. Yet we all continue to do it because we can and because its fun!

I disagree Randy. Three years ago wife and l decided to see Alaska. We drove from Marco island, Fl to north of Fairbanks using the Alaska Marine Hwy and roads overmuch of Alaska, the Yukon, BC, Alberta, etc. Two months of travel in an Audi Q7 and staying in Bed & Breakfasts, motels, and hotels. But, we took our dog with us. I must say we stayed in many fine establishments but were often relegated to proverbial rat holes which we couldn’t wait to leave! Most 5 (and 4) Star abodes aren’t pet friendly, particularly once you leave the interstate. My “ business case” is to spend just as much on travel with the hotel room on my back as it were. Now how’s that for rationalization. At least that’s what I keep telling myself!😎
