Compared to what I had (original) these are blinding!! (probably exaggerated on my part) LOL
That's awesome, post a picture of the final product if you get a chance.

and the factory leds you are ordering through Freightliner?

Looking to upgrade soon......
Several guys on the forums have one of the Bi-Xenon options and really like them. I personally think the Deep Space Lighting option is cool because of the angel eye and devil eye. If you want LED with a new housing then yes, you need to order those through FL.

I found a set of the LED headlights from Freightliner online, and, from the pics, they have a single plug at the end of a harness wrapped in yellow loom. Where does this connect? I’m not near our coach right now, but I thought the original assemblies had a separate plug for the high and low bulbs...can’t really remember now. Does the new yellow harness plug in further upstream...maybe before the original harness splits out to the two separate high and low pig tails I’m remembering, or do the new assemblies include an adapter plug/harness of some sort?

Thanks!
JT

For the non-LED there is a single plug that goes to the headlight housing. Inside the headlight there is a small loom splits to connect each bulb.

Found these ‘new take offs’ online for $590 for the pair and had to roll the dice. They have a few spots I probably should try to buff out, but otherwise, for the price, they’re great...way better than the LED bulb replacements I’ve wasted money on.

Steve and Joe, thanks for posting up the part numbers, video, and feedback!

they look good and you will really see the difference the next time you drive at night. You got them for a good price too, I paid double and some of what you paid, good find. They are worth every penny of the price.

Ha...don’t be. They don’t look as good in person. We drove back from the last wheeling trip in OK in the middle of the night, and I was determined to do something when we got back. This was definitely a ‘function over form’ play.

X2 Don't waste your money on bulbs. Get the projectors. HUGE improvement.

I’m running LED’s that you can find on Amazon. I’ve got them in my RV and several other trucks. Works great.

My quest for better headlights:

I put some Morimito projectors in the stock housing with 55W HID bulbs and ballasts. I had issues with the ballast going bad on the driver's side, even with using a aux wiring harness. After the 2nd ballast went bad I got frustrated. There was a Black Friday sale where I found Morimoto M LED for 300 bucks, so I figured I'd try them out.

I pulled the HID stuff out and replaced with Morimoto M LED projectors. So far I've tested them for an few hours, on the road and stationary, and everything works well.

I like the instant on of the LED, and everything fit into the headlight housing (unlike HID). Less heat is generated using LED and there is no power surge required for ignition. I prefer the 5K color of the HID. The overall magnitude of light output between the two systems is similar, with HID having a bit better "spread" from side to side.

I liked the HID light color and overall side to side light pattern the best, but the lack of reliability killed it for me. If these LED projectors hold up I'll be a happy camper.

Joe, did you order yours through Freightliner, or did you find them online? I think this will be next on my list.

On a similar note, do those of you with the Caliber9 grills run any of those light bars when driving on the highway at night? I recall several folks saying they used them when navigating campsites etc, but I was wondering if any of them, specifically the lower amber fog/driving light bar, could be used all the time the lights were on.
I'm getting ready to order a set of the factory LED headlights and just saw this in the thread. I have both sets of lights in my Calibre 9 grill. I've been told the lower amber fogs are legal for use on the street and they are brighter than the factory yellow fogs.

The upper clear bar is supposedly not legal for use on the road as it is too bright. I wired mine to a relay that is controlled by the headlight bright light switch. I have a separate on-off switch for the relay installed into the console I bought. This way I can travel at night and just use the normal brights or also have the big LED light bar come on with the brights. We lived in Australia for 2 years and this is how I had my Roo lights wired. This worked great when driving on the highway in the outback. I figure I can use this same configuration if driving in the rural sections of the Alcan on the way to Alaska or anywhere else on the highway in remote areas. As long as you dim your brights properly when you have oncoming traffic it shouldnt be an issue.
