Fuel Economy Force vs Force HD

Gents, I am currently deciding between the Force or Force HD BH models. Will be towing a full size SUV. Either can do it but I like the idea of the true engine break on the HD in the mountains. Not sure if that edge is worth a large fuel discrepancy. Can anyone tell me what fuel economy differences I can expect going from the 6.7 to the 9.0 Liter Cummins in terms of mpg ?? Is it negligible? Cant find fuel stats out there anywhere??? Thanks!

We have the regular Force, i get around 9-10mpg. twice a year we drive from Ohio to Florida with a 22' enclosed trailer. In the mountains of West Virginia and Virginia I get around 8 mpg, at some points we slow to about 60 mph, but it hasn't bothered me, would have loved the hd, but at this point I am happy with what we have.

I can not say about the Force, however I can tell you that in 17,000 miles in the Western States, Our 9.0 ISL DX3 weighing in at 30,000 Lbs and 4000 lb tow, the computer is recording 9.0 MPG. I have checked the computers accuracy often and found it very reliable.....Bob

Thank you both for your responses, it doesn't appear that towing a full size SUV effects mileage much at all !!

Just being silly here but does fuel cost really matter on a $200,000 motor home?

It does so I can make payments, lol. Actually we dont spend a lot on fuel which I love.

Congrats to you force guys, really nice rigs. At 200K, that is a league above almost all of us. I was thinking at that price level, an extra grand per trip is chump change.

How do you get computer readout on the DX3?! I couldn't find one anywhere.

I'm wayyyy to lazy to manually calculate.

The GPM calculation is on the bottom of the page where you enter fuel additions. So far we have entered all fuel additions and the computer knows milage, so its a quick calculation for the computer. Some how there must be a fuel consumed number being generated that allows the calculation accuracy when partial fill-up are made. Un-clear as to how that works, but traditional methods of checking confirm it's pretty close.
The screen page also shows fuel and dollers spent and location in a historical log.
I'm not in the MH so I can't remember the icons but I think it's RV Maint.
I know from Brian's input there are different hardware/software versions so if your interested further, PM me with your version and I'll check mine......Bob

Holy moly I think I'm missing a whole section somewhere. Is this on the dash of the freightliner or somewhere else?

That's sort of like saying since you own your own business, "You Must Be Rich". I hear it all the time since I own 3 businesses. Ask any small business owner & they will tell you the same thing...Yeah, I can afford this but I don't have any money in the bank & I will never see a big pay day unless I sell my businesses. Even then, the government will take all that in capital gains tax & I won't have a pension or retirement plan. Don't confuse hard work & little luck as being rich, we're just enjoying the fruits of our labor while we can. A $1000 bucks IS a big deal to me & even though one of the businesses I own is a Cigar Lounge, I'm not lighting my cigars with $100 dollar bills.
