ON our bus conversion we used the truck pumps , as it could be fueled from both sides at once ,making fueling quick.

We have discovered the auto/RV pumps may have a lower price than the truck diesel.

And lower bio crap content.

Truckers & companies have to pay commercial fuel taxes in every state they travel thru, which will be included at their pumps..

Big truck co. get large discounts because of fuel volume purchased each month.Which boosts the sales price for others.

Take a look, as you travel, to see price differences, between the RV island and the truck side.

As Orwell said , All the pigs are equal, some are more equal than others.

Sometimes RV's WIN!!!

Today is a prime example of why not to fill up at the truck pumps. I am a service tech for a cstore company one of our new stores has a small side island. 3 pumps 2 with satellite for trucks and one non high flow pump. We have one satellite set up down for computer issues with it leaving the slower flowing and one satellite set up. A guy with a new dodge 3500 (still had temp plates) and fiver pulls onto the one working satellite males a huge mess when it over flows from his tank. Meanwhile we now have 3 semis waiting for the one pump. Wife goes into the store spends 20 min inside he refused to pull forward and allow the trucks to fuel or so we could clean up the mess he made. He was pisses that it over flowed and said something must be wrong with it

Hmm did it 4 times last week while on my Canadian trip.. No problems. Guess I'll have to find a better way to get fuel.

I have a gasser. You know how much PIA to get into some of these gas stations. I had to block traffic when filling this last weekend because regular pumps are are only built for cars. O well people will have to wait. Need gas to make it move. Luckily my new truck has bigger tank so I do not have to fill up as much.

We use semi lanes to fill up frequently. Never had a problem with the fast flow rate, or it shutting off because I feather the lever. Never seen prices different between semi lanes and auto lanes either. If I ever did, it would be the last time I used that chain.

I get 450 to 500 or so out of a tank towing. But the diesel is nice for not needing to thread that needle anymore.

PS... I actually used a def pump for the first time as well. It flowed slowly bc I didn't have the magnet thing.. Turns out that Walmart def is still cheaper so it will probably be the last time I use the pump.

I get about 300 per tank. Give or take dependent on hills or flat.

I fill at the truck lanes, no issues and I pull out immediately when I am done. I bought my def in a 55 gallon drum with a pump. Much cheaper

Not sure how much DEF you use (other vehicles) but DEF does have a 1 to 2 year shelf life and that requires being stored in the right temperatures. I had looked into doing the same thing a few years ago but knew that I wouldn't use it fast enough.

I use about 5 gallons every oil change or about 10k miles. I drive about 25k a year it would take me a LONG time to use 55 gallons! LOL. Of course if I had tractors and other trucks that needed it might be worth the money.

We have a 2007 with Cat C7 350hp getting around 10 to 12 mpg . When I fuel up we don't shop and leave the RV I try to move as fast as I can so the next guy can in . I just pull somewhere then go back and get what ever I need. Im glade I don't need def what a joke that is. I do use a fuel additive because of the 15 ppm fuel its also works great if you have to use biofuel (crap) . I always try to remember that truckers are working and Im not so give them a break.

Heh it's a little higher on the 8.9. More like a gallon of def every 50 gallons of diesel

FOURWHL, If your 50 mpg/def is accurate. I would suggest getting to a Cummins engine shop soon, I wouldn't leave this to a Freightliner dealer (unless you know they are very experienced with emissions on the 8.9). I keep pretty accurate numbers, and have been getting around 225 miles per gallons.

I didn't say 50mpg. I said 1 gal def per 50 gallons diesel.

At 8-10 mpg that's 400-500 mpg def
